ARM OF HAMER Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Well, Have a look at this! Crazy Rare! Wish it was in better shape but its a cool piece without a doubt. I guess if I buy I get only the one string?LOL! And $105.00 to no more than $130.00..............................Holy Smokes! maybe he is shipping his car along in the box with the guitar!LOL! In all fairness..................he does say only actual shipping costs would apply so................if I bought it it would be $65-$70.00 contingent on carrier and type so...............only seen one other Natural Sunburst this early and that was here on the HFC.............I believe that guitar is in Belgium and its a dot neck Natural.I'm I correct that this is one of of the VERY few natural finished Sunburst from the years 78-79.WOW! Guess it does not get much rarer than this for a BURST......................http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-Sunburst-1979-Nice-Vintage-/111003495701?pt=Guitar&hash=item19d852ed15
Ting Ho Dung Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I don't know, man. I look at your writing and I can do my best Irish dialect in my head while reading it. Maybe Scottish. There is so much understatement there. I love it. From where the hell are you? May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Hey Laddy I'm not irish or Scottish I'm full Swed I'll have you know! LOL! Have I missed the boat on the way over or I'm I right about this as to what it is. Been looking for a Blackie Burst from the same time frame but this does look cool, nobody here as excited as I'am about this fiddle?.................maybe I've just run into a stone wall here and knocked myself for a loop. Please no further comments regarding my ancestry or I'll get Oliie and Lena to come over and teach you a lesson....................with a Hamer! LOL! I really do like the the blessing of the shamrocks part though. : )
Feynman Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Does that say 9 1004?! What the heck happened to it?
Bobby Marshall Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Something does look off about it. Why would you keep a great playing guitar with one string on it?
The Shark Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 A little too "rough" for my tastes. Weak sales effort too.One of the more killer guitars I've seen.
murkat Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Something does look off about it. Why would you keep a great playing guitar with one string on it?Rock Lobster from Planet Claire?
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 So...........fellas not that big not a deal this one?....................bound and crowned natural from 79...............can't be that many floating around......are there? ........................you guys are the experts so just asking for advice. : ) BTW Black piant is not a option on this one MR. KAT
Feynman Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 There are very few natural B&C ones for sure. I have a particular fondness for 9 1004, and it's a shame to see it so poorly represented. It has a very beautiful and interesting top. It's also been professionally refretted at great expense, and was a terrific playing and good sounding example. It's an awesome guitar, IMO. A few other pics with all the strings:
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 So this was yours?.................why did you sell?...............if you don't mind me asking, was there any other issues[OK thats not a "Issue" really as it been refretted by a top guy that did it right so that a good thing] that you know of other than the refret. Did it have this much wear to the back when you had it?. I do like this guitar................. minus the Black paint it has all the appointments. : )

bubs_42 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Question asked of Feynman: So this was yours?.................why did you sell?...............
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 OK I'm missing something here................: ) there is laughing going on that I'm not a party to........................least I think I'm not. OK Feynman WAS this yours?& why DID you sell it?............................were you missing something? like some digits perhaps? Hope not! People let things go for different reasons and its not always money...................I owned some guitars I thought I'd never let go but in the end I did, just kind of lost their appeal over time I guess.............looking for a different sound. I like this Burst even though its rough around the corners.................and back : )
Feynman Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Pay those jerks no attention - they're having a bit of fun at the expense of my mental disorder. In the past I have had some problems with frequent buying and selling of guitars (thankfully this has been cured in 2013).It was a very nice guitar, and I was happy to own it. I had the refret done, and the work was done very well (at the expense of the binding nibs, but it was worth it). It's not in bad condition at all, or at least it wasn't. There was plenty of finish checking, and some binding cracking by the neck, and rash in the back, but it never looked bad to me. It may have been on the heftier side of things, but I honestly don't recall the weight. My friend has a '78 that I remember as being lighter weight, but the weight never bothered me on this one. The neck profile was nice, and it sounded nice. I found a correct bridge pickup for it after I bought it, but I think that has been replaced with something else after it left my house.I wouldn't even mind having it back (I had a LOT more in it than the BIN price), but I've sworn off new guitars for the year. There were no breaks or any sort of structural issues. I am a sucker for natural finishes, and I loved that guitar.Nearly four years have passed since it was mine, so I can't speak for the condition it is in today. It makes me a little sad to see that crappy auction and photos, but what can you do? I forget the exact number, but I think it was something like seventy naturals from 77-79. It's my favorite finish, so I'm probably biased toward this one. If someone has abused it since, it's a damn shame.
cynic Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I found a correct bridge pickup for it after I bought it, but I think that has been replaced with something else after it left my house.I was informed by the seller that the pickups (Skatterbranes) in the photos will be removed and the "originals" (assuming whatever was in it when he received it) will be reinstalled prior to shipping. His photos do appear to show more finish damage to the back of the guitar, but if it's a concern shoot him a message. He got back to me within a half hour with all the info I asked for, and even dropped an HFC members name that would have more info.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Well it sold......................price on the shipping was wacky but I would think Ebay would be able to do a adjustment on that to make it more reasonable contingent on the location shipped...............in any case I didn't win it but I tried! I put up what I thought it was worth to me..................some else put up what they valued it at and he won..............we both popped in in the last seconds of the auction..................anyone here get it?.......... and IF so congrats! There will come a time for me to get one of these and besides...................I saved myself some money.............now I don't have to paint it BLACK. ; )
Brentrocks Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 i bid 1200 with 20 seconds left and got blown out of the water
maxprs Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 i bid 1200 with 20 seconds left and got blown out of the water I bid 1202.02 becasue I knew your bid was 1200 (I did it, no joking) This was with 10 seconds left, blown out of the water as well. The last seconds the bids were increasing so fast...
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 I was the second guy {186} feedback points I bid $1,350.00 was going to do $1,500.00 but I thought about this guitar quite a bit and just decided that was to much............. obviously someone else thought different. Cool guitar and would have like to have gotten it but now "Black" is back and I can get focused on looking for that one.
Joe G Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I bid just under $1,400 with 8 seconds left and won. I would've bid more and I think it would have sold for much more if the shipping charges were lower and there were some high res pics.
