JohnnyB Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I just got a new 5x185w multi-channel amp and surround sound preamp/processor for my main home audio unit. It has turned up the musicality, speed, transparency, and dynamic range several notches from where it was before, so I'm sort of rediscovering my entire CD collection.I'm especially enjoying classical stuff that I've hardly played for years:Holst: The Planets. John Eliot Gardiner on Deutsche GrammophonMoussorgsky: Pix at an Exhibition, Night on Bald Mountain, Chuck Dutoit & Montreal Symphony on London Digital (yee-haw!)Bizet: L'Arlesienne Suites & Carmen Suite, Herbie Karajan & Berlin Phil, Deutsche GrammophonDebussy: La Mer & Fetes, Boston Symphony on PhilipsBach: Sonatas for recorder & harpsichord, Keith Jarrett & Michala Petrie on RCAVivaldi: The Four Seasons, Andy Parrott & the John Taverner PlayersVarious: Collection of European Marches, Lenny Slatkin & St. Louis Symphony, BMGRavel: Daphne & Chloe, Chuck Dutoit & Montreal Symphony on London Digital Some jazz & stuff:Diana Krall: All For You, ImpulseMadeleine Peyroux: Dreamland, WarnerDuke Robillard & Herb Ellis: Conversations in SwingPat Metheny & Jaco Pastorius: Bright Size Life, ECMJames Cotton (with Charlie Haden & Joe Louis Walker): Deep in the Blues, VervePat Metheny (with Dave Holland & Roy Haynes): Question & AnswerGary Burton and Makoto Ozone: Virtuosi, VerHolly Cole: Don't Smoke in BedHolly Cole: TemptationDiana Krall: The Girl in the Other Room (on SACD), VerveModern Jazz Quartet: Together AgainBrad Mehldau: The Art of the Trio, vol. 1Rock/PopBilly Idol: Whiplash SmileBrian Wilson: Smile, Nonesuch
hardheartedbill Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 just the internet in general. I usually run a radio station over the PC and then I run into so many great clips and concerts that I don't need anything else , last week it was live Trower from 77' , before that rare live Hendrix, I love the net!
wyldbil Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 For good or ill, I have been kind of fixated on Dimebag Darrell since the tragedy.Best Of Pantera, Pantera Official Live and DamagePlan have been at the top of my rotation for several weeks. I have grown to love his playing style and even to appreciate the Cookie Monster vocals that come with it.Took a break the last couple of days to listen to Green Day's "American Idiot" after some moronic CNN talking head made some really inane, ignorant comments about it on Sunday morning. A mind is a terrible thing... not to have.

A mind is a terrible thing... not to have. I'm with you on the Dime thing. I almost sold my ML before that happened, but not now. Hell no. Phils vocals aren't exactly 'cookie monster' to me; I think more Cannibal Corpse for that.American Idiot is a bitchin album too, man. I'd hate to have to one-up that like they're gonna have to.
Monacosis Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Paul Motian with Frissel and Joe Lovano: Monk in Motian (old) and I Have the Room Above Her (new). No bass trio stuff. Frissel is the duck's nuts. mike

ZR Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 He plays through Marshall 6101 combos. I have one and they are great amps. One of the best for versatility. Kind of a Marshall version of a Mesa Mark IV as far as features go.
Brooks Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 my bud just sent me a cd bythe BURDEN BROTHERS;its ballsy vocals and guitars wrapped around pop rawk, kinda a cross between cheap trick and the toadies, very jammin'
