crunchee Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I don't, I'm waiting for a Guitorgan donor. Teisco Del Rey (AKA Dan Forte, he used to write the "Off The Wall" column in Guitar Player Magazine years ago) uses one:
veatch Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Had a Roland 808/300 years ago. That's about as close as I have been....
Steve Haynie Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Guitar-shaped penis?!? I wish.Mine's a 12 string bass!On a serious side, that guitorgan is really cool.
BlueRedWhite Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 WTF is a guitorgan??Sounds like a proctology instrument...guitar covered with alligator skin??
JohnnyB Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Guitar-shaped penis?!? I wish. … or the other way around:
django49 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 That very early guitar-synth was fun to play with. Not sure how well they held up. Closest I got to owning was was a Roland 707/700, I think it was.
Bloozguy Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I almost bought a non-working one a few years ago...until I saw what was inside: I decided it could have easily turned into "the project from hell."
L Nutter Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 I've got one that mostly works - but I just don't play it anymore. I do use a POG2 now to get the same effects. In its day it was very cool! I was just wondering if there was a Guitorgan contingent among the Hamer fans - to share tips / parts / etc.
rj2858 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Guitar-shaped penis?!? I wish. … or the other way around: I'm really glad I don't share the same "shaft to balls" ratio, with your picture! Was this the impetus for the creation of relaxed fit jeans? "Wango Tango" indeed!
veatch Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 The Guitorgan was an intriguing instrument. I think you are the first real person that I've met that actually has one. Back in the days of Usenet, there was a group called rec.music.makers.guitarsynth, or something like that. Not sure what happened to that group - they're likely out in the interwebs somewhere. Some smart folks there on this stuff, at least they were smart compared to me, and 20 years ago.... One guitar synth I always wanted to get was the Zeta Mirror 6. I was actually taking to Zeta about buying a new one when Gibson bought them out and shelved them. :/ Good luck, and post some pics!
L Nutter Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 I'll get some pics up when I get back to Chicago this weekend!L
gtone Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Any ya wonder why these didn't catch on? Not me... Complexity, weight, the fact that few want a guitar to sound like an organ (Jon Lord wanted his organ to sound more like a guitar), where should I stop?...
