zorrow Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Ana just told me she meant something completely different when she asked me if Kev was getting a sponsor. She thought Kev was signing to ESP or something, so he had to drop Hamer. My side though, I thought she was just suggesting me to go and try to "sponsor" Kev... and so I did! But be ensured, I would do the same for many of you fellas here -although now that I'm spending almost 3K on a guitar I don't think I'd be able to "sponsor" anyone for a lil' while, frankly.
BlueRedWhite Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 A bit pretentious to think yourself as a sponsor, don't you think? i apologize to Kev, i didn't have the guts to ask you directly and i should. congratulations on your guitar Ionel, a real gem, and probably the best guitar you'll ever own. i can see gorch jumping and celebrating already...he do loves Standards
Steve Haynie Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 There will be no topping this event this year. It reminds me of Formula73 and Tattooed Carrot about a year or two ago.
Hamer Dave Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Contests lonel! May I call 'dibs' on this if ever the release comes up? I'm searching for my 'first' early Standard. This would have been nice. I also really wanted to suggest removing the tuners if it ships. After feeling the weight of a severed headstock with tuners installed vs removed(near weightless), you'd agree. Let us know how she purrs! Great sale!Dave
BTMN Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Been trying to talk myself into/out of considering a trip to Frankfurt. Tampa to Frankfurt, Oh my...... And I do not speak any German really.

Let us know how she purrs! Great sale! Dave Well, besides Kev (to whom I'd owe a "previous owner agreement"), my friend Gorch comes close second, as he's a true fan of Standards. You're then the third in line. Nevertheless, I must say it's not very probable I'll ever move this one. Firstly, both Hamer and Hell mean a lot to me, for many reasons I cannot explain here. And secondly, my wife loves Standards and has tried many times to convince me to move from Vees to Explorer-shaped guitars. I therefore think this one will stay with me for a very looooong time.
zorrow Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Been trying to talk myself into/out of considering a trip to Frankfurt. Tampa to Frankfurt, Oh my...... And I do not speak any German really. Do you think I speak any German? Man, Spanish, French and English, I do speak; but a German module installed in me, sadly I have not -well, not yet. BTW, if you come to Frankfurt that will be a blast... and you'll also spare me an extra trip to Tampa!
BTMN Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Just looked, $1200 roundtrip nonstop Orlando to Frankfurt. Tampa to Frankfurt is about the same but longer flight and not nonstop. meaning changing planes no doubt. HMMM. You might have to come to St. Pete. But then......
kevinbower1959 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 And I do not speak any German really. Don't even consider this as an obstacle. We've played shows in 18 different countries now, including over 40 shows in Germany, and it's actually very hard to find anyone who doesn't speak near-perfect English.
BTMN Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Actually that was the least of my worries. St. Petersburg seems to be a big hit with German tourists as they flock here. Now the $1200 plus expenses.... YOLO right? Now where did I leave the spare $2000
gorch Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Last night I woke up twice and didn't know why. Now I know. I missed out a big story. BTMN you are very welcome to Frankfurt! I have a German language module left in the jar to be plugged in. What's your interface? PCMCIA? If we don't speak English over here, we have arms and legs to move. Ionel, many thanks for stepping in for Kev.
Disturber Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 No need to speak German if you speak HFC. You should all come to Frankfurt. Concrats to the new owner, and Kev is a great guy to deal with!
bubs_42 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 F Disney. The HFC is the most wonderful place in the world. We need this on a T-Shirt.
cspot Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Jebus....lets all just get a room and be over this wussiness
j2112c Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Bollocks.I see this once it's gone. In the UK and at a price I could manage.Fuck it.
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I had no idea this ever transpired. I'm on the HFC at least a couple of times per day. How'd I miss this?Anyways, congrats to Zorrow. Great score!

You can swing that. Or, sell a couple guitars. How many do you own now, fifty?
BTMN Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Germany is not in my financial picture due to other travel scenarios I have come up with. Checked Nursing salaries lately? My wages have not increased in 10 years due to 1995 reimbursment rates.
