Wondering how much my Virtuoso might be worth?

Hi,

Wondering what the current value of my or any for that matter Virtuoso. Mine is serial number 0010. Bought it new way back when from Guitar Center in LA. Have recently rediscovered my passion for guitar and my old axes. The Virtuoso is the least played of any of my guitars, seemed kind of "precious" even when I bought it and was playing 8 hours a day.....

Any input would be welcome, I could not be more out of touch. Thanks.

Jason

ps. Not sure if I am actually selling this or any of my old axes, sort of waking up after a long slumber and tapping into the knowledge base here. I hope that by posting this to this forum I have not upset anyone, that was not my intent.

Man, at least make sure the guy knows you're joking.

I don't know specifically what your virt. is worth, but it's much more than $350. That's just a running gag around here. When I first posted about my guitar I got the same offers.

Welcome to the board. These guys really do know a lot about Hamers.

post pics! what finish is it, etc...

just as a ballpark figure, depending on which Virtuoso it is (there are only some 20-odd examples), anywhere from $2K to $4K or more. It all really depends on how bad someone wants one at the moment.

Some pics or at least a description would be cool, so we can add it to the list of Virtuosos accounted for.

This one should be black.

is it a prototype, what's with the 0010 serial#? an early one with either a kahler or sustain block?

Hi,

I will post some pics as soon as I can (have to read how to do it as well).

Was there literally that few made? Amazing. It is black. As far as the 0010 # that is what is printed in white on the guitar so I assume this is the serial #.

There is no tremelo system and I was not under the impression that this was a prototype.

Thanks,

Jason

From the forthcoming FAQ page:

Q: How do I post images?

A: Several ways:

  • If the image is hosted somewhere in Cyberspace Hit the "IMG" button above the text box, paste in the FULL PATH to the image, and hit the "IMG" button again (or "Close Tags"). In this example, your image will appear within your typed message. You will see something that looks like this:
    [img=http://yourdomain.com/yourimage.jpg]

  • If the image is on your computer, you may upload the image to your post by hitting the “Browse…” button in the File Attachments section below the posting text window. Image file uploads are limited to a maximum of 250k in size. In this example, your image will appear below your typed text.
  • This third example is friendlier to those without a high speed Internet connection, and is a variation of example 1. In this example, you paste the full path to the image into the body of your post without hitting the IMG button. This will provide the viewers with a link to the image. The images can be as large as you like, you can list as many as you want, and dial up users won't crash when they open the thread. This also gives those interested the option to click on the link to view the image, or continue to browse the thread without waiting for the images to load.

There were ten numered like this one, the rest all had standard serial numbers. I have spoken with the guys who designed the Virt and the guys who built the early ones. They all had sustain blocks. The "regular production" ones (if any could be called that) pretty much all had trems.

Non-trem? Email sent.

Here's a pic of a couple of the other non-trem Virts.

nice headstocks on those two...look a little different.

Heyyyy-where'd THAT pic come from?! ;)

I like those pics.

Actually...it's one in my photo files that I dug up somewhere. I don't recall where I found it. Is it one of your's Serial or maybe Andrew's?

I'm pretty sure that's Gary Moore's old Virt and the KKeller Korina one in it's original condition (pre-fingerboard chop) at the factory.

I think you mean the one that Joe had that was for sale. Not sure if it sold or not.

That was my pic-got it from a guy who used to work at the factory and worked on the Virts. Those two are NAMM ones, so they wouldn't have had the regular production numbers like Joe's did. Most of the early sustain block Virts were korina as I've been told.

Fingerboard chop?

Looks like the fingerboard has been scalloped (like Ritchie Blackmores strat).

Has it???

Gabe ;)

All Virts had scalloped boards.
