I can pay by paypal up to $ 900.

Perfect! That'll cover shipping and maybe the case!

Hahahahaha!!!

These basses go for several times that.

No head redesign on these-they have the standard Hamer 4 in line headstock. Some were done with reverse heads as a custom order.

Not many were made, so they're not easy to find and pretty sought after.

Next question to come will be "how much does it weigh," a sure sign that a purchase will not be made.

... A sure sign that a purchase will not be made.

My guess is that this was determined a few panels up... ;)

Agreed, but the weight question is always the death knell.

Guitars (shakes head) just like with women "the weight question is always the death knell"

Cheers!

As an aside, when it comes to FBIVs, the answer really is the old "If you have to ask...". These things sound like God's Own bass, but they weigh a ton. If one is concerned about weight (or size, for that matter), look for something else.

I've been lucky with the two I had (a 91 and a 92) that were very reasonable in weight. But I've played two candy red ones that were heavy.

Well, before clicking on this thread I didn't know those existed. And now I do, and I kind of want one. Thanks.

If your max is in the $900 range, go after a Blitz. It'll still be Sixx-compliant ;) ...and those are also tremendous basses in every respect.

FBIV is worth the dough, though. I've admittedly only played one, but it is a killer.

There's no "kind of want one" when it comes to FBIVs. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: They are rarer than 4 digit Standards. Good Luck.

Yeah, $900 is more in the Epiphone TBird price range.

I still have two Hamer FBIV's...both bursts with the input jacks on the side, not the top.

Those are VERY hard to find.

Most of the FBIV's seemed to be solid colors or stripes, etc. And most had the input jacks on the top of the body.

Well, you know, I had to add the "kind of" at least to myself so it doesn't become an obsession.

Well, for me it WAS an obsession :) I really do wish you luck - they are great basses!!

Fewer than 200 of all FB models, guitars and basses, by my estimation from the records that I have.

......and Nikki Sixx probably owner a quarter of those...and broke many of them...making the FBIV even rarer. :)

How much are you willing to spend for a nice one?

$900.
