ARM OF HAMER Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Up to over grand with 6 days to go, I'd say there is some interest in this one.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Currently http://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-Hamer-Sunburst-guitar-/131389515740?pt=Guitar&hash=item1e976ce7dc I know one of the guys bidding on this one and he is thinking around $1,500.00 ................still a very good buy IMHO.
HamerHamburg Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 He won't ship internationally ... pitty ...
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Not that hard to do................I have shipped quite a few internationally w/o any issues....................... including Germany!
Hamer Dave Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I've played two Sunbursts within 6 digits of this serial #, and they both had a very funky(in my opinion) really deep D profile. It made the fretboard feel very narrow, but was in the 1 21/32" area. I think it's because the profile was so deep/thick (.9+ at first fret). It just felt very odd/unusual. I'd almost bet this is in that same batch. Being it's only 5 guitars away in production. Also, did anyone notice the neck joint? Appears to have dripping stain there, and along with his description of cracks at that joint, I'm thinking it's been reset? Look at the neck joint photo, you can see what appears to be something funky going on with the stain there?I don't think that's the original nut either. Too bright.
Hamer Dave Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 The other two also sold at nearly half of what this one is right now.
Hamer Dave Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Questioning seller, he seems to think possibly the neck was worked on when a brass nut was installed prior to him owning it. Said he got it in 1983, and it already had cracks at the neck joint back then. I also asked what made him think that is the original nut? I also asked if it was maybe in the case? He didn't answer that one. I think he means he had another nut installed, back to what he 'thinks' is original. Not sure.
serial Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Neck joint spooks me a little, but looks great otherwise.
Hamer Dave Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Yeah, you can see the stain dripping in the photo, at the back of that neck joint. Not like others. And he says finish was cracked there in 1983 when he got it that way. Ummmm?
RichRS6 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Someone sure wanted it.Probably the highest price I've seen a dot neck from 1980 go for in the U.S.Anyone here get it ?
louhamer Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Wow, it sold for $ 2,424.00. I never thought it would for that price in the last few seconds.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 Yep I watched it go also! Pretty Cool! What to you think the guys [ I***I [231] ] thoughts were when he was outbid at $2,399.00!
tmsfo Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Jesus. I just looked over my shoulder at my 79 on the wall and it looked back like "don't....even...think...about...it."
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 Wouldn't think about selling either of my Black B&C'd 79s ............ not even for that kind of $$$$.
Hamer Dave Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Wow! Didn't expect that. It only takes two. Or one for that matter. Cool.
RichRS6 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 We shouldn't be surprised really, these guitars are easily worth that kind of money.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 From my earlier post : " I know one of the guys bidding on this one and he is thinking around $1,500.00 ................still a very good buy IMHO."
Brentrocks Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 holy shit! that went high. beautiful SB, that is B&C kind of $$$
crunchee Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Looks to me like business/spending is picking up all over on FeePay lately, not only for this guitar. Or maybe it's only for the stuff that I like.
Hbom Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 What to you think the guys [ I***I [231] ] thoughts were when he was outbid at $2,399.00! Relieved.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 What to you think the guys [ I***I [231] ] thoughts were when he was outbid at $2,399.00! Relieved. That may have been. But having bid it up that high I'm guessing he really wanted it badly and thought he had it in the bag.You just never know though because on Ebay its never over till its over.
HamerHamburg Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yep, I was looking at my 78 sitting in my living room and smiling ... seems mine was a good deal after all. If that 78 on eBay Kleinanzeigen (buy/sell platform in Germany) for €2000 didn't have replaced tuners, I would probably have two Sunbursts by now ... I just hate replaced tuners and visible screw holes. What a shame, the original Grovers (most likely bull's eyes) all gone... oh why ... ? Looks like prices are going up ?
