RobB Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I messed around with the black/yellow and black/white ones at GC in the demo booth. They seemed as nice as the Charvel ProMods, pretty much the basic 70s/80s Charvel formula. The Floyd's are flat mounted. It would be difficult to lower the action (it's pretty low already), but it can be raised with Floyd shims or by deepening the neck pockets. Compound radius, medium-thin oiled neck. Very lightweight guitar, but I prefer the heft and deeper bottom-end of the alder in my SoCal. They're nice guitars for the money, but the ProMods and original US SoCals are more versatile and better values. Plus, they don't have those hideous EVH paintjobs, either.
scottcald Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 They're basswood and I'm pretty sure they're made in China or Indonesia but I could be wrong about that. The few reviews I've read give them pretty good marks, but I'd have no idea of used pricing for them.
tommy p Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 jisham sold a black and white one here last February. Maybe he can tell you about them.I almost bought his because I wanted a guit with a whammy and I love the black/white thing, but I thought people would expect WAY too much out of my playing when I pulled it out of the case. I can't tap my way out of a paper bag.
tbonesullivan Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Wow! EVH's LOGO costs money! corrected. He's pretty much the poster child for guitar endorsements, and I'm trying to remember exactly how many different companies he's worked with.
Biz Prof Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 True, Ed's in full pimp mode with his EVH brand, but I'd say he was relatively average in his endorsement behavior for the first 30 years of his career.
tbonesullivan Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Yeah, the ad blitzing from the EVH branded stuff is a lot more than I ever saw from Peavey. Though Fender is probably trying to make sure they make something out of the arrangement.
mathman Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Thanks, my friend is a big fan of Eddie and an monster playing in my opinion. I am going to check it out for him Friday if possible.
jettster Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I've played a couple, decent guitars but I'd be hard pressed to justify buying one over say, a Diablo, this being the HFC and all.

SSII x 2 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 They go over great at blues jams...LMAO! Go over about as well as my SSII when I used tobring it to blues jams--with my Mesa Studio .22. Aroundhere if you don't show up at a Open Mic with a Strat anda NMV Fender amp, you def. get plenty of stink eye!

Bolted from Music Man because theycouldn't make enough guitars for him to get richer on. Sterling Ballessentially told him to not let the doorknob hit him in the ass!
Tres Aardvarks Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I dunno, I dragged this the first time I attended a local blues jam here in Virginia. I don't think the EVH's are that much crazier
