Anyone familiar with the EVH STRIPED SERIES?

Is it something that is likely to be faked or copied?

A friend wants me to check out one in a craigslist near me. Anyone know of any issues or problems to look for in one of those? I am not a strat guy but I slept in a Holiday Inn once.

Any idea of going price used in good condition?

I messed around with the black/yellow and black/white ones at GC in the demo booth. They seemed as nice as the Charvel ProMods, pretty much the basic 70s/80s Charvel formula.

The Floyd's are flat mounted. It would be difficult to lower the action (it's pretty low already), but it can be raised with Floyd shims or by deepening the neck pockets.

Compound radius, medium-thin oiled neck. Very lightweight guitar, but I prefer the heft and deeper bottom-end of the alder in my SoCal.

They're nice guitars for the money, but the ProMods and original US SoCals are more versatile and better values. Plus, they don't have those hideous EVH paintjobs, either.

They're basswood and I'm pretty sure they're made in China or Indonesia but I could be wrong about that. The few reviews I've read give them pretty good marks, but I'd have no idea of used pricing for them.

jisham sold a black and white one here last February. Maybe he can tell you about them.

I almost bought his because I wanted a guit with a whammy and I love the black/white thing, but I thought people would expect WAY too much out of my playing when I pulled it out of the case. I can't tap my way out of a paper bag.

True, Ed's in full pimp mode with his EVH brand, but I'd say he was relatively average in his endorsement behavior for the first 30 years of his career.

Yeah, the ad blitzing from the EVH branded stuff is a lot more than I ever saw from Peavey. Though Fender is probably trying to make sure they make something out of the arrangement.

bring it to blues jams--with my Mesa Studio .22. Around

here if you don't show up at a Open Mic with a Strat and

a NMV Fender amp, you def. get plenty of stink eye!

Yah, Ed's a class act for sure. Bolted from Music Man because they

couldn't make enough guitars for him to get richer on. Sterling Ball

essentially told him to not let the doorknob hit him in the ass!
