SSII x 2 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Has anyone tried one? Yea, Nay or indifferent.I'm thinking of putting one on a SG with a TOM/stop bar...
atquinn Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I put one on a Hamer Artist and I tend to agree with Chris. I believe they've made a slight revision to the bridge since then, but I don't think it would impact my opinion.-Austin
zorrow Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 My friend put one on his semi-hollow jazz guitar. His is the OEM model –his guitar is a custom and he ordered it like that. I've tried it and to me it's pretty good. Not at all like a Floyd, but still functional enough. I like that kind of weird stuff, so I'm even toying with the idea of putting one on my semi-hollow V, just to look cool when jamming with my friend and to apply some Jonnhy A-like tremolo on my chords too.
serial Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I had one on a Hamer Studio and found that not only was it hideous, but it really wasn't worth having. Easy to install/uninstall though.
murkat Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 stetsbar is kinda like the 80's floating Kahler system....... enough said?If you want the classic warble trem sound, go for the original, a bigsby. You can purchase no mod plates to mount a bigsby on just about any guitar now.
zorrow Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Yeah, it's Kahler-ish. The new Stetbar -version II, I think- is not that ugly, as they modified the base plate and now its look is less invasive. PS: BTW, guys, I'm not sure, but given his nickname is "SSII x 2", he probably is way more into Floyds than into Bigsbys.

geoff_hartwell Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Jus to throw a monkey wrench... I'm not a trem guy at all, so I'm skeptical about all systems including the old standards, FR, etc. BUT... Our pal Burningyen (Ben) posted a video of him doing "Panama" on his Reverend with a stetsbar That I thought was totally righteous
burningyen Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Yep, I had one for over a year on my Reverend Gil Parris. I liked it, a *lot* more than the Bigsby on my old Newport (much wider pitch range, better accessibility/placement), not quite as much as a Strat trem. Eventually I ran up against its limitations in terms of up-pull, to the point where if I got too vigorous with a pull-up the entire base would suddenly fold up with a snap like a mousetrap. But if you're only going to do divebombs and mild pull-ups, it works well. I didn't notice any major effect on tone.
ARM OF HAMER Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 A friend had one on a newer Gibson Les Paul...............................HAD one.
mc2 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 There was one on my '90 Firebird hardtail when I bought it used. Removed it.At least the former owner was smart enough to use a bar that was reverseable and left no marks.Probably the STETSBAR's biggest positive.
