kurtsstuff Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 So...lately I'm consumed with the thought of swapping out the bridge and tailpiece on my Hamer studio with this bit a steel and I'm wondering? Is it really worth the $345.00
Dutchman Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 I think there are better things to spend $350.00 on for gain in tone and sustain. But if ya got it to blow... go for it!!!

I was worried initially about the look of the 'Tone" bars for intonation, in person, no worry. I recently purchased a Callaham esquire kit, seems great too, expensive, but not too expensive, $400.00.

'Expensive' is a relative thing. Even so, I don't usually buy Booteek (unless it's cheap when found used), as 4 Benjamins isn't too far away from the cost of some of my favorite guitars/Partscasters that I've purchased used within the last five years. I'm frugal (read: cheap) that way.
hamerhead Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 What do The Gear Page experts say? They're always right.
joshoowah Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 My Partscaster has the full Callaham Strat hardware kit, and it's the best sounding vintage style vibrato I've ever heard. My LP Special has a Callaham TOM, and it made a huge difference in an already outstanding example. Cheap? No. Worth it? I think so. Can't speak to value compared to Faber, but I'd buy the same bits for those guitars again.
Gino Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 I have a Callaham bridge on my AmStd Tele and it was a big improvement over the Fender bridge. Also, on my AmStd Strat (sold adter I got a CS Strat) the Callaham block and saddles worked nicely. Recently I changed the trem on my CS Strat for an ABM (German / Berlin hw-company) trem assembly for the narrower spacing and it is definitely on par if not better to the Fender vintage trem. On my CS LP I changed the bridge for an ABM bellbrass ABR-1 and it gave a noticable difference for the better. ABM hardware is equal to Callaham's IMHO and not as expensive. They cut their stuff out of the full, just like Callaham. Don't know if their stuff is available in the US, though... https://abm-guitarpartsshop.com/ABM-GUITAR-PARTS:::256.html?language=de They do ship to the US it seems!
HamerDave Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 That depends on what you're pulling out and why. If you're pulling a cheap pot metal cast hunk of junk they're a good, if pricey, option. If you already have a quality bridge, Fender, Wilky, Gotoh, etc. that's working properly, save your money. @it's me HHBtold me I should spend time practicing if I wanted better tone. Dude was right.
