Guitar Player Magazine collection - December 1976 to 2010

From December 1976 through 2010.  Pretty near every darn issue.  I once decided to hold back the issues that had a review of a Hamer guitar I had but those will be included. although maybe not within the given year (these are grouped by year). Maybe six missing? Plus a 1975 Joe Walsh cover issue.  I won't part this out.

They have been boxed in my attic forever.  They are In very good condition.  Also included are many (20+??) Guitar Worlds, plus miscellaneous annual gear for sale magazines.

These are in three-four different-sized boxes.   This would be  heavy to ship but they would go USPS media rate, if that is the cheapest.  USPS max is 70 pounds per box.

So, I propose the "buyer" pay shipping plus $50 or some decent serviceable pedal in trade. It's not about the money. It will take some work to make them secure to ship, etc.  I'll donarte the $ to the Hamer webserver folks.

If somebody wants to pick them up, I am in Cleveland Ohio.  If you are headed to the RRHOF this summer, I live five minutes away.

Any other thoughts on how to move these would be appreciated.

If we all chip in, we can send them overnight to Kizanski before he sees this.

Send them via the US Post Office.

That's one way to ensure I never get them.

It's quite likely that the Library will take them and then sell them at a Book Fair or something to raise money.

Heh heh heh nursing or retirement homes. Bet you find some old rockers.

Hey @Pieman: I was in your shoes about 5 years ago, had a bunch of early Guitar World issues, also.

Libraries in the Bay Area didn’t want them. I ended up contacting the Rock and Roll HoF, and “donated” many issues to the tune of about $5-/issue (per a charitable contribution on my tax return that year) since they are deemed a non-profit! They didn’t want everything I had however so I sold the rest as calendar year lots on eBay. Reach out to the HoF to see if they need any of your issues— they even paid shipping to take mine.

Some single issues are worth good money (early Jimmy, Jimi, etc.), so one could parse those out individually. Hell, people sell Guitar Player issues on Reverb. Make a few bucks back and keep’em outta the landfill.

Good Luck!

Yes, the local library is a possibility.  The RRHOF has a "yard sale" for stuff like this, too.    The archives has a set already.

These are not going to a landfill.

I have the same problem, tons of Vintage Guitar and Guitar Player magazines and others from back in the day from when great bands ruled the earth......................now many of the young generation has little or no connection to any of this stuff like many other things of a bygone era so.......................just another job parting out the ones I can  sell  from the also rans and the same goes with my collection of records, but both need to get done this year and I'm going to do it!

I have a big collection of Guitar Player as well, almost every issue from 1967 until I stopped subscribing a few years ago.  (I only started my subscription in 1991, but I inherited a friend's old collection, and then I bought some missing back issues to fill in the gaps.)  I never look at them, but I can't bear to part with them!!

Gone to Wayne  by way of local pickup. Found a good home.  Without resorting to a Gear Page post!

Nice to meet up with a fellow HFCer and swap stories and history.

Rough estimate... approximately how many articles are there on how Stevie Ray Vaughn got his tone?

One.  Back then they would have just asked Stevie what he was using, and that was it.

In the early issues I suppose. Then again, having he artist available to ask hasn't stopped guitar magazines from doing endless articles about Billy Gibbon's gear.
