Biz Prof Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 That finish is so pristine that it appears to have remained unmolested in the case for over three decades. Frampton must have loved it so much as to never played it...or owned it.
hamerican gigolo Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 $11.5k cash face to face transaction only??? 🤑 Geez... 🙄
The Shark Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I remember seeing him play that.......................never.

BTMN Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I was thinking the same thing about 11.5k in person only. We will be doing that one at the police station to insure complete safety. 😁😁😁😁😳
Drew816 Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 In that time period all kinds of artists were ordering these things, so it's "possible." But THAT AD ALONE isn't going to move anyone to part with $11k! In the Charvel/Jackson log books and what little info remains known of that period, tons of people ordered these things, got them, realized they weren't their thing and put them in a case and that never got opened again, gave them away, sold them, etc. Billy Gibbons had a very early Charvel, Elton John's guitarist and music manager had several Jacksons, Brad Whitford from Aerosmith, Gary Moore, Allan Holdsworth, on and on it goes. Let alone those artists that were known for using them like Steve Stevens, CC Deville, Randy Rhoads (obviously!), Robbin "The King" Crosby and Warren DiMartini, and some guy called Eddie Van Somthingorother, etc., etc., etc... AGAIN, not by THIS AD am I believing this but I it would not surprise me if this had happened; now PROVE IT and I'll give you three fiftie and a bag of fig newtons!

Absolutely possible, but I'm not buying the story without more evidence than what's in that ad. In fact, when Frampton joined Bowie for the Glass Spider tour in '87, he had already been playing primarily custom superstrats equipped with Floyds. The black one in Belew's hands is a Schecter, of which I recall Frampton had a few different models. The quilt top is one that I think he bought from Rudy Pensa's shop, so it was likely made by John Suhr.

I saw him play both of them at a show in Atlanta on the Art of Control tour. Had a humongous double rack rig that he played later on the Glass Spider tour.
cynic Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 I’ve got no problem believing the Jackson was ordered by PF but the price is looney tunes. His Pensa-Suhr is the reason I’ve kept my eye out for one over the years but I’ll never own one because they’ve also gone looney tunes
