Source for crowns?

Question

Can anyone recommend a source for mother of pearl crowns, a standard set for a Les Paul or one of our crowned hamers, of an equivalent beauty and quality to the Hamers crowns?

They are good to deal with,  it aren’t they going out of business?

LMI is the one that recently went out of business.

StewMac also sells precut inlays.

I've got some shells I could let go.  Not sure there's enough for full set of crowns, though.  😉

Those are beautiful, especially the one at 4:00! Not enough for crowns but I'll take that one if it needs a new home :)

I'm actually got a pre-cut set of gold mother of pearl coming that I found on ebay, I don't think it was even $40

I have a bunch of these laying around and in my aquariums... I wonder what type of hole saw makes the fretboard dots?.. I think some Googling is in my near future 🤔

Dude, thanks for this post... I just remembered that I have a TON of abalone /mother of pearl and Capiz laying around disguised as furniture/lampshades, raw material and such just laying around in storage... Now I have a purpose for all of this material for future builds~😉

my 59 Manhattan was partially re-blocked, 3 are old shrunken and 1 of those is loose. I might be able to handle that job if thickness is pretty standard.

Oh, man, the PJ Marx pickup!

I was testing out a bunch of them, but they are out.. they had in common the most ridiculously overpowered low e, and the most painful piercing High mid Spike I've ever heard

Wanted to comment a little further; the stuff they sell is absolutely beautiful, and if you don't see what you want just send them a note via the contact seller, they will get back to you quickly and put together whatever you need..

These are CNC cut to shape, not polished.. what I did was wet sand with 1600, wet sand with 2000, compound with 3m perfectIt and a Dremel buffer....takes about 3 minutes per section and the end result is incredible

I didn't expect this but once they're in the fretboard, they feel so good under your fingers!  they feel warm and alive, it's very noticable.. really a great experience doing this

the crappy plastic crowns felt dead and tacky
