Well, that’s close. I bought the guitar at a pawn shop in Jacksonville Florida in December 1982. I was informed that it had been pawned by Dave Hlubek after I had paid for it. I had bought two of his guitars. A few months later, it was confirmed by Hamer that the guitar had been made for Michael Schenker and they did not know where it had disappeared to. Not long after that I ran into Dave at a bar in Jacksonville called playground south. He admitted the guitars were his and that he pawned them and he didn’t care for them. Just guitars. The guitar the V had been a gift from Michael to him when they toured together because Dave was a Hamer guitar player. Michael had taken a deal from Gibson by then. That was the spring of 1983 when I met him. In the spring of 1986 I met Banner Thomas. He was working at American Music in Jacksonville. I kind of got excited about meeting him and talking with him and allowed myself to be talked into trading the V for a Music Man HD 120 2-12. Great amp but to much for me at the time. Last time I saw the V it was in another guitar shop on the south side of Jacksonville and that was 1992 and by then someone had put a Floyd in it, which was horrible to see, and by the time I went back a week later to buy it and try to resurrect it it was gone. I wish I had put a deposit down, but I had no money the week before when I saw it. It still had the paint job, but it was Floyded. I’m gonna figure that some sailor, because Jacksonville has such a large population with three different naval stations, that some sailor bought it and moved away back home and it’s under somebody’s bed or in a closet in the Midwest, northwest, somewhere, someplace. Serial number was 0415. 😎👍❤️🏁

@Ham Rex and I have been talking about @BTMN/Gene’s strange Vector which featured a weird paint scheme, a 67 Flying V body, and a pointy-yet-blunt headstock. As far as I understood, it was destined to Michael Schenker, who for some reason rejected it, so it ended up in a pawn shop somewhere (Jacksonville, FL?) and Gene purchased it eventually, but later on he wanted an amp, so he sold it to purchase the amp… and then he —and nobody else— never saw that guitar ever again. Given there are new HCF-ers since the last time we asked, we ask again: Is anyone here aware of the existence of this guitar, and of where it could be nowadays? These are the only two pictures of it I have —Gene might complete the story of the guitar, add the S/N (if he remembers) and tell us the entire story:

Our own Bubs was touting the talents of Will Shea near Harrisburg, PA. I wound up grabbing this one and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Beautiful and increasingly rare 1993 Hamer USA FM Special in Aztec Gold. Solid Honduras mahogany body with a bookmatched figured maple cap, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and original custom-calibrated Seymour Duncan humbuckers. The guitar is in excellent condition, with only a few very minor, barely visible marks and minimal fret wear. Straight neck, comfortable action, and currently set up with 9–42 strings. It sounds incredible—smooth, liquid, and sustaining, with classic rock tones. Weighs approximately 8.4 lbs. Includes the original case and warranty card. $1,700 shipped. I dont know the numbers but would say 50 is closer to the number of Scepter Vees, based on how many Ive seen the last 25+years. Scepters probably at least 200, if not more. Used to be a lot around but many were absolutely beat to shit. I have a black/red 85 and its hard not to bang it around.

Yes we did. Some secret high end collector grabbed it already… 🥺😆 -
I remember growing up as a kid in San Francisco, cutting class/getting high and stumbling upon Santana in a free impromptu street jam in Golden Gate park's clamshell venue... extremely cool experience as a kid, forever etched in my mind 😃

Great tone, he always sounds like Carlos no matter the right. Could've been his old Mark 1 or a Kingsnake. Wonder how he is able to hear anything after all the years

Went to see Carlos live last night in El Paso. The Doobies opened for him. Good, solid show, I would recommend catching both bands if you can. They both brought it, tons of hits and great players. Carlos is 80 and still played well. Definitely not the Carlos of youth. He had to sit for most of the show due to age, but, I still enjoyed his moments of greatness last night. OK, got to mention this... When they were switching bands, Carlo's tech brought out his rig and fired it up. OMG. Now, I've seen a LOT of shows in my 67 years. I have NEVER heard a live amp that loud. Not through the PA, this was just the rig on stage. I was over 100' away and it was insane. I have to repeat, it was INSANELY loud and CLEAN. Looked like an old 100w Boogie combo on top of a 4x12 cab. I've google'd a bit and his last rig had some Blutotone and Dumble amps off-stage, So, that 4x12 cab might be a mix of amps. The Boogie was mic'd as well as the 4x12. But, the stage volume was crazy. When the band started, he was no where near being put through the PA. It was just his rig live. We're talking a basketball size arena stage show. You could hear him direct. In fact, even the full band through the PA was not as loud has he was! Not sure who I felt bad for, the FOH mixer or the band dealing with that stage volume! One more shout out, but his wife on Drums was off-the-chart great. Wowza. Here's a quick clip. https://youtu.be/ZLKZdzQNEHE
