  1. Past hour
  2. All his are great stories, but the blue Strat is a great story.
  3. Mine has it too. But since I’ve had the bass since 1985 I am sorta proud of the checking. Very awesome bass.
  4. Tom is a great seller and HFC member! If I didn't already have a handful of Specials, I would be buying this one. Get yours!
  5. Not to be contradictory (but I guess I am) but... with "relic-ing" being such a fad for a while now, there may be those who do want it, especially if it's the real thing. Anyway, you can't hear the checking, unless maybe you're Eric Johnson.
  6. You don't totally appreciate what you got till it is gone....Even temporarily. Thanks so much!
  7. Today
  8. Agreed, whoever get's their hands on this one will be a happy camper.
  9. Maybe the seller intended to express the price in Lire (though that technically no longer exists).
  10. The checking is not desirable, but it is sort of normal.
  11. https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/products/hamer-cruise-bass-metallic-blue-1983-2546455 I hope nobody on here bought this. The pictures did not show what the finish really looked like.
  12. I got it on here from HFC'er a few months ago. played around with it, got bored. Includes the power cord, box, etc. 2F1D5CBA-3AF0-4C9D-8837-61A5C4F4B886_1_201_a.heic2F1D5CBA-3AF0-4C9D-8837-61A5C4F4B886_1_201_a.heic

  13. same song from 1978...it's incredible they've been playing this for almost 50 years!
  14. They still sound great, I saw them live in March and they were amazing!
  15. Glad you’re back! Amazed that the Special still hasn’t sold at that price.
  16. Another Special from 1982 is trying to get sold for big bucks - $7,118 with $600 shipping. https://reverb.com/item/100047741-hamer-special-1982-unique-rare-union-jack-glitter-sparkle-relic-cherry-orange Usual going price for early 1980s Special is around $2,000. So, why $5K markup? Because seller says that painted Union Jack is worth extra $5K!!!! Original factory finishes are scarce and demand high prices, and that's what the seller implies here, yet if you look closer at the picks you'll notice that: 1) Under the paint it looks like a normal wood grain of a thin veneer Special top. 2) Red paint surface is bubbly and uneven, not something you'd expect from Hamer workshop at the time (especially evident in pic #14). This looks more like an overspray one would do in their garage. 3) Red paint is applied over dings - see pic #8. New guitar at the factory would not have these dings, it's obvious that well played instrument was used for painting over. To me this looks like an aftermarket amateur paint job and sorry attempt to extract big money from the buyers.
  17. Thank God, it's back!😀
  18. Kudos! Glad we are back online again!
  19. There is a Wordpress issue documented that hit my little reflexology pages as well the other day. It‘s a managed service and they had provided steps to solve the issues. I followed all, but the server seemed still showing unwanted activities. After a few days, I had been offered to play in an older but clean backup that was not available to me by service. Seems to be fine by now. I have had this kind of issues several times in my IT life. Always a hassle of work. In one case I reprogrammed an open source software -phpNuke- myself to make sure doors are closed. I can imagine your job, Ted. These issues always happen when not needed i.e. around Christmas/New Year. A big thank you is not enough, to say it really. I truly hope you are almost through it.
  20. They sure tried, but we are not out of the woods yet. Been watching all night and so far so good. Lets hope they got bored and went home. Keep your eyes peeled for weirdness and let me know right away if you see anything
  21. What is that blue strat type guitar?.. Sure is pretty.
  22. OK, back from a health induced absence. This needs to be absent, nice though it is. Tell me something reasonable.
