  2. My friends, I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted here or shared any new builds, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why. Due to ongoing health issues, I’ve had to step back from guitar building for the time being. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make in my life. In my early teens, after picking up a chisel to make a guitar for myself and shavings started to fly, I knew immediately "this was for me". It became my passion, and that’s why it’s been such a difficult decision, building guitars has been something I’ve genuinely loved doing and sharing with all of you. I realize the long silence may have left some people wondering what happened, so I wanted to put something out there rather than leave people guessing. The truth is simply that my health has had to take priority, and guitar building has had to take a back seat. I’m not sure what the future holds or when I’ll be able to return to building. For now, I’m taking things one day at a time and focusing on what I need to. I would like to say special thanks to all of my HFC friends who followed and supported my work at Hamer. Your dedication, encouragement, and enthusiasm were so inspiring, Shishkov Guitars was born. I really enjoyed working very closely with each and every one of you, creating a truly unique instrument and I am grateful for the many friendships that have developed. Perhaps in my small special way I was able to keep the “Dream” alive, if only for a few years. To me this is priceless and will forever have a special place in my heart! So for now, I need to take a break, take care of my health, recharge, and get back into it… Thank you for understanding. 🎸
  3. Very nice collection! What really caught my eye was your tag line, my Dad has said pretty much forever, “Everything in moderation, including moderation”…

  5. What???? I can hear you... Speak up! my tinnitus is acting up.... Yes I have it but it isn't too bad. Even taking a blood pressure medication that can increase it. Still sucks. Hope there is finally a cure. If only there was as much interest in this as erectile disfunction studies.
  6. I've had it about 5 years now. Maybe longer, I just may not have noticed it. I've tried every home remedy.
  7. @Hbom, have you tried the Super 7 Sugar?
  8. I have been dealing with it for nearly 30 years…. Docs all tell me it is incurable cause it was (in my case) caused by ear damage (jet engine exposure).
  9. Very cool indeed. Hard to believe it's been a year already.
  10. Any updates on this? Hope it worked out for you!
  11. Been a fan since the beginning. Saw the first tour ("Light Me Up" at the Beat Kitchen, a tiny bar in Chicago), then a slightly bigger club in Chicago (Bottom Lounge), and three or four tours after that. I don't do the concert thing anymore or I'd still go see 'em, excellent live act. Guitarist had great tone, and really tasteful chops. Taylor is a monster vocalist- not sold with her doing Soundgarden but love her on her own material.
  12. Feel better, WM. Fell last November in an icy parking lot and did the same thing (including fucking up my rotator cuff and tearing the tendon). Recovery took months, not a fun ride, but one that does end.

  14. The 28% buyer’s premium is the kicker for me
  15. Thanks, very cool article. Only one Ace.
  16. May the Good Lord heal you quick Willie G!

  18. Just saw this on another forum, and it's a really good read. Larry makes some great pickups, and also does have a gift for writing. I love hearing about his "war stories" from the old days. Remembering Ace Frehley Larry DiMarzio talks with Ace's tech, Rocco Monterosso, recalling Ace's gear, his early embrace of DiMarzio pickups, and much https://www.dimarzio.com/stories/remembering-ace-0
  19. Jon Herington had that disconnected Tone control on his, was it Talladega?
  20. Regrettably, that bore remarkable similarity to me at work any time I am forced into "pocket-protector mode" (the euphemism we use when I am called out of my actual job to attend to tech support tedium). Conclusion: never should I ever attempt home recording!
  21. Never heard of it, but that's not surprising. The description sounds ideal: "The alnico-magnet Ruby 12" aims to combine a bit of heralded “chime” from Celestion’s popular alnico 15-watt Blue model with the vintage-rock attitude of its 90-watt alnico Cream model in a 35-watt unit for mid-powered combos." Sort of a kicked up Blue with higher power handling capability? Like I said, sounds ideal. From Premier Guitar's review: "With the Ruby, both amps lost a smidgen of volume, thump, and snappy articulation—a predictable result with a lower power rating and a softer-responding alnico magnet—but they also gained a more forgiving feel and some lovely natural compression. This instantly made both combos not only sound more “classic” and broken-in, but also imbued settings that had previously seemed either lackluster or strident with lustrous new life. Put another way, the Ruby mellowed each amp a tad, but there was still plenty of growl and zing—and I never encountered any of the grating, overwhelmed-sounding harshness that many alnico-magnet speakers get when pushed hard." Buy from Bubs!
  22. Except for the hairstyle, that seems very familiar!
