velorush Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Okay, I actually believe this rundown (as opposed to all the years of magazine run-downs)! Interesting, I didn't see a single Bixonic Expandora... Hugely funny about the pesos, too. I knew the dude in Idaho was making his guitars, cool that the tech was so open about it (and the rest of the stuff).
geoff_hartwell Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 .07-.38's. That still amazes me. And never broken a string - Unbelievable! GH
Brooks Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 .07-.38's. That still amazes me.and EVH and iommi use .08's ....kinda lets the air outta the "heavier strings = better tone" theory, dunnit? at least w/ dirty tones.edit - i knew about his rig, but just learned from this that he uses my fave speaker, an eminence manowar!

Eminence makes really good speakers at great prices. I'm getting ready to order a couple to try out in my new Valvetech Amp.
RobB Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I was suprised at the spectrum analyzer segment where he explains how he scanned Pearly Gates and has a program for each guitar to sound exactly like that parameter. What's the use of bringing shit tons of guitars on the road if they're all going to sound the same? Showbiz, ah reckon.

Still, Billy G is a hero, even though his live tone when I saw them a few months back was kinda arena sterile. I wish he could just plug into a 1x12 6V6 Brown Fender Deluxe and rock it out - like he did back in the day. THEN HE SOUNDED REAL GOOD.
tbonesullivan Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 those are some nice guitars. also a great rig. Surprised that he doesn't switch out guitars more to keep them in tune though.
DaveH Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 and EVH and iommi use .08's .... kinda lets the air outta the "heavier strings = better tone" theory, dunnit? at least w/ dirty tones. No, it just means they'd sound extra great if they used .010's
