bubs_42 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 This guy can't get his SH@# straight his auction. He was battered the first time on misinformation and revamped only to get it half right then ends the auction early again! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=006
Thundernotes Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Not that I know of - but that dude lives in the town right next to me and has sold off one hell of a collection of Hamers lately. Obviously, he's using the money to buy beer!
kizanski Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 During the first go-round I emailed him through ebaY to tell him "Just an FYI: It's a '97 and it's mahogany - not korina."His response was "Right."I'm not sure what that means, but he could have added to his description (not edited) to include the right info, or at least, if he was going to relist, he would include it there (he still has it listed as a '93).Looks like a one piece body, btw. I would have kept mine if it weren't for the small-ish neck.
cmatthes Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 That seller is a frequent bidder on eBay for Hamers - has been for the last 4-5 years or so. Back when bidder IDs were visible in all auctions, that guy was often in the mix.
Bernard from Belgium Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 What happened? The sale ended with no bids? I would have liked it at 0,99 USD... Would have been prepared to pay the transportcost to Europe too. Wouldn't matter to me if it being a 93 or 97.Or was the sale just a joke?BernardBTW, Kizanski, thanks for the answer on the photographs.
Scarabaeus Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 What's also funny is if you click on the "CLICK HERE TO VIEW OUR OTHER EBAY LISTINGS" link, a different seller ID, theguitargarage, appears with nothing currently being sold.

Thundernotes Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Hmmm. I would guess that it's this guy: http://www.theguitargarage.com/contactinfo.html He's a local music store owner and seems like a pretty decent person from my experience. If it's him, it's odd that he'd be flakey on an ebay auction. It might have sold locally, but that possibility should be stated in any auction. Or, it could be an evil brother-in-law using his ID without permission! Anyhoo, if somebody wants me to check on the guitar at his store, let me know. It's right on my way home from work.
PastorPaul Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Relisted:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=160189708823
Thundernotes Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 OK, well that confirms my theory. Now I'm curious - maybe I'll stop by on the way home from work.
JohnnyB Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Relisted:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=160189708823He also has a Monaco Elite Mahogany and a hot pink Scarab up: Clickety.

crunchee Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I'm curious to see if this auction actually goes through the whole 7 days. The end of it is gonna be cutting it very close to the peak Christmas shipping period.I emailed him the first time he had it up, even referenced the posting on 'Standard Standards' here, but didn't get a reply.
BTMN Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 MMM Nice! That Standard is numbered 20 after the one I have that belonged to Bruce919 at one time.
tomteriffic Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I checked mine too, Gene. Bruce 919 had 3 at one time and the numbers were sequential except for one gap in the sequence. One number was missing IIRC. I had that one. One piece, comfortable and rude
bubs_42 Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 Now look what the dumb A## is selling ! Check the year... http://cgi.ebay.com/1993-HAMER-USA-MONACO-...1QQcmdZViewItem And this guy 9wn's a his own shop
Steve Haynie Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Do not complain. Just bid if you like the guitars.
JohnnyB Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Now look what the dumb A## is selling ! Check the year... http://cgi.ebay.com/1993-HAMER-USA-MONACO-...1QQcmdZViewItem And this guy 9wn's a his own shop Just because he owns his own shop doesn't mean he's a Hamer USA expert or knows the history or naming of a given model or of Hamer's serial numbering scheme. According to his ad copy he's selling them for a friend; seems to me the friend could have been more enlightening.
kizanski Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 There ain't nothin' like a "selling for a friend" auction...
marcnorth Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Why all the raggin' on this guys auctions, If your really that concerned email him and tell him.
cmatthes Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Why all the raggin' on this guys auctions, If your really that concerned email him and tell him. Excellent point. Of course, I get the sense that the guy isn't responding to emails . It's a nice guitar either way. Good luck for those bidding on it!
JohnnyB Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Why all the raggin' on this guys auctions, If your really that concerned email him and tell him. I guess we'd rather do the Superior Dance.

MCChris Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Here's an idea: avoid eBay altogether and stop inviting the world's scumbags, scheisters, crankshafts, ne'er-do-wells and jagoffs into your life.
