I don't think the knot was removed, but it may not be showing up in the live shots for some reason - there seems to be a bit of a shadow. Finding an Emerald Green B-12S would not be an easy task, and the fact that he just brought one out a few weeks after the one sold on eBay seems more than coincidental!

I'm not so sure, Gene I still think it's the same bass. Pickup swaps are easy - especially when you have a full time tech!

I could be absolutely insane, but I think that was the 12'ver that just got (re)sold on eBay a couple of weeks ago. I'll have to compare the flame (no pun intended, I'm sure). Original listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200975087344?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_217wt_918 Same bass, a couple weeks later: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-B12S-Short-Scale-12-String-Bass-B12-w-OHSC-Cheap-Trick-Znuff-1993-/131037964703?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=koERkJJRN5RqxAZISO%252BdmxkqEXk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_15668wt_1030

I got to play a 1945 D18 today
cmatthes replied to Brentrocks's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
My wife's grandfather ordered a D-18 (I believe) in 1938, when he graduated from Med School. It was a factory lefty. He was mostly a piano player, so it was really only strummed occasionally at parties into the mid '50s. He gave it to my wife's uncle David, also a great musician, in the early '70s at High School graduation. He pried off the pickguard and slapped a righty one on, flipped the nut and did something funky with the bridge, and it never played all that great afterwards. It also has my wife's grandfather's name and SS# engraved in the heel, and a couple 40 year old stickers on the back. He still has it, and I've been after him to send it to Martin for a restoration - it had never occurred to him that it was a valuable instrument. That thing should be worth a good bit of money, but I can't imagine what it would be worth if it had remained mint and unmolested. -

Great post, Kiz. One of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen, and the story and your reverence just adds to the total package.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Hamer Rawk Gawds! -
Too mushy of a mix for me. If that had been less processed/less produced, it could have kicked significantly more ass.

83' Sunburst - Prices increasing or decreasing?
cmatthes replied to Craig S's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Prices have been dropping for the last 5 years. A lot of people bought high, and will likely keep their stuff a good long time, or sell at a loss -

Indivuduals That Sell Stuff To Music Stores
cmatthes replied to elduave's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
In the internet age, I find it nearly inexcusable to be the guy who gets royally taken advantage of by the expert behind the counter. Google is free, and five minutes of your time can be a worthy investment, unless you suffer from the above-mentioned entitilitis. -
Indivuduals That Sell Stuff To Music Stores
cmatthes replied to elduave's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
A lot of people think that their gear increases in value over time. For 99.9% of the stuff out there, that just isn't true, and even if it was, a dealer needs to build in profit. Maybe a reply to somebody who doesn't get it would be: "Okay. You would like me to buy your used guitar (that regularly sells for $400 elsewhere) for $475. That's a pretty good deal for one of us. Let me ask you a fair question, and please answer honestly and objectively: knowing that I am a business owner, and I need to make a profit on everything I sell to keep the lights on, if you walked in my store tomorrow and saw this guitar with a tag for "$475+$X", would YOU buy it from me at that price? Do you think anybody else would?" I would say it's a really nice guitar, and I can truly only offer you $X for it. If you feel it is worth $475, then I really encourage you to put it on eBay and Craigslist, etc. That's where you will get the most bang for your buck. Sounds like this guy wants the quick and easy way out and doesn't want to do the legwork of listing the guitar, dealing with (other) a$$holes, losing additional money on fees or assuming the risk of anything at all, AND wants to make out better in the end. Great work if you can get it! -
The .11s on that guitar feel like .10s. Paul and Co. really nailed that one!

I've played a bunch of those DGTs...they are the best PRS made to date, and I've owned/played PRS since '89.
