  1. who was wanting a glen tipton hamer? pretty close.
  2. 1st impulse was camstones duo, but i really want a solid mahogany slab w/ 2 P90's & a wraparound (special K?). but i don't dig pickguards.
  3. cheers, gents!
  4. cheers!!! we need to hoist a few someday. sooner or later i will come to chi-town and we will party!
  5. years ago my wife dragged me to see melissa ethridge. besides the excellent people watching (lipstick lezbos making out), melissa was captivating just sitting on a barstool w/ a 12 string.
  6. noice!
  7. +1. nice to hear from ya.
  8. HAPPY BELATED BD, BROSEPH!!!
  9. they should get the guy who plays bubs on "the wire" to star as phil http://www.hbo.com/thewire/cast/characters/bubbles.shtml
  10. big +1. top 5 band for me. saw lizzy on the chinatown tour when i was in 8th grade, awesome.
  11. i love these threads! i hate to hear of your probs, but these threads make me realize how universal (& funny) band drama is. there's always at least one fuckup in every band. i actually get along w/ everyone in my band, but i think a big part of that is the fact that 1) i'm also in a fairly busy acoustic duo, 2) the band only gigs 5-6 times a year. if the duo fell apart (and i couldn't find another), we might have to replace some of the guys. but at least i don't want to deck one of them (which is rare, as i have little tolerance for assholes).
  12. cheers broseph!!
  13. i got a dead amp from usps. i had to give up the amp to get full insured value, took 4 months and many phonecalls, trips to usps, letters, grrrr... dunno how it works for a repair. BE SURE TO PROCESS IMMEDIATELY, STAY ON THEM and ASK MANY QUESTIONS; i almost didn't get paid because they kept kicking it back (prolly trying to get past the time limit), and the local usps said "you're all set" but the national claims office kept saying "we don't have the right paperwork". good luck.
  14. wayne krantz plays most thrursdays at the 55 bar in the village. look for oz noy at the bitter end. cheryl bailey is a kickass jazz guitarist i saw downtown. non music stuff that i enjoyed were a central park bike tour, staten island ferry, nbc tour, and the museum of sex.
  15. yep. steve hip'd me to these, & redd volkaert (true telemaster). also, some of steve earles 90's albums are cool, like "feel alright" and "trancendental blues".
  16. special FM w/ phatcat & custom custom pups & chrome goodies;
  17. welcome broseph. someone on another forum said that we "pass hamers back and forth around here like a crackpipe", ha. indeed, i have bought and sold many here, and made several real world friends. this is the best guitar site on the net! here's my current crop;
  18. Mine doesn't look like a lunchbox... thats kickass!!! i got a plexitone (traded harry my vc20 for it and another fancy pedal). it kicks arse, even w/ my powerblock.
  19. those tiny terrors look like a lunchbox, ha. the crate vc20 i had sounded great, like a lil marshall, but it was not clean enough for our jazz/funk/ska stuff. my 6V6 powered superchamp xd has great chimey fender clean sounds, perfect tone and volume for our band. i actually stopped using my switchblade because the xd has better cleans, better effects (and is less than half the weight). the SB does rule the high gain stuff, tho.
  20. i love these threads! here's my "bad hair history", from grade school thru college (the "flock of meatballs" pic on the mid-right was my north texas student ID); 1985-1986-ish band; we did originals, plus priest, crue, rush, riot (not quiet), wasp, manowar, etc...
  21. back at the chicken shack!
  22. +1 on teles, i can't get into their look. +1 on the standard & dean ML; although cool looking, i felt ridiculous when i owned one at age 40, ha. gotta throw in my recently aquired ibanez sabre, fugly but super comfy to play.
