FS/FT USA Artist
Brooks replied to Rocktuna's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
that looks like the one i got from bobbymac awhile back the baggs system sounded good but not as good as a duotone (metal bridge and maple top gave it a bright sound, almost like a dobro). -
cheers!!

brad plays hybrid strats (fender/fernandes). jeff watson had a hamer model named after him.

OH WHAT THE HELL......FAVORITE VH ALBUM
Brooks replied to harry65's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
FAIR WARNING!! their dark masterpiece. then i like VH next, w/ the rest of the DLR era all tied for 3rd. so many jr high & high school memories are tied to that music. -
sucks they did it NOW, i coulda used it 2-3 months ago when that retard at the pawn shop revenge neg'd me for his crappy shipping job on that champ12 amp. i STILL haven't gotten my money back from the post office, grrrrr. http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.p...&hl=packing

i agree. my faves are the duotone & newport for that reason. PRS make nice stuff, but i originally gravitated towards hamer because ten years ago you couldn't touch their quality/price ratio, esp used. their used prices now seem to have caught up w/ PRS.

cheers!!

I don't know...I think they sound exactly like their name implies: Terrible. bens brother has a trio that does covers here in town. their name is even worse because its not even original; chuck folds five!
-
thats mark griffin. he played trumpet w/ early 80's dallas new wave band the telefones. i actually sat in w/ them when i was in jr high. they had some cool hooky rawk stuff, kinda like talking heads played thru a marshall.
-
ok the pic of george michael in mindseye's big brown truck thread reminded me of something i've noticed over the years; ever think the wrong band got a cool name? WHAM would be a cool name for a hardcore punk band. POISON? 80's thrash metal. theres more i've noticed, but can't think of them right now...

"Bit" players whose bands regressed after they left
Brooks replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
i thought mike inez was on dirt(?). anyhow, thats easily their best. i'll add bob daisley on the 1st 2 ozzy albums; he was treated like a bit player, but actually wrote a bunch of uncredited lyrics, and came up w/ great basslines. -
back off steve, i saw her 1st!!!! i agree; rod does shred, but gabs rhythm/percussion comping is driving this. plus shes hot in a down to earth sexy way, mmmmm.

Which Would You Rather Be... One-Hit-Wonder, or Never-Was?
Brooks replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
you missed my point, then. most of us have played in bands, but never got much further than some local gigs. thus, we started normal careers w/ decent incomes and the normal homelife associated with them. however, some sucess in music often will cement ones mindset into putting "all the eggs in one basket", then years later they find themselves in middle age w/o superstardom or riches, or even middle class comfort. -
Which Would You Rather Be... One-Hit-Wonder, or Never-Was?
Brooks replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
One-Hit-Wonder, or Never-Was? hard to say. seems it would be a leg up in all musical endevors that followed, thus making a continued career in music easier. on the other hand, i know a few folks in their 40's & 50's who had some sucess. most of them have no insurance, no savings, no house, no wife; basically living like a 22 year old guy playing bars. it's a hard road. i actually still enjoy playing bars because i don't do it every night. but don't get me wrong, when i was younger if we ever had any success, i'd probably still be milking it. -

classic band, one of my faves. classic line up guitarists gorham/robertson used les pauls w/ mini hums (deluxe?) thru marshalls. i saw the chinatown tour ~80, w/ gorham & snowy white there are some decent best of comps, my fave lizzy albums are live and dangerous (not very live but definately dangerous), black rose (w/ gary moore), jailbreak, chinatown. my very fave is the Peel Sessions, which is a best of performances on John Peels BBC show, great raw versions! old truck edit:

Anybody checked out that new Seymour Duncan P-Rails?
Brooks replied to Lockbody's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
cool idea, but it needs a cover, its fugly. -
here, here! all hail brother eric, he speaketh the truth. all i need is 2 pups, a 3 way toggle, and a volume; i typically never use a guitars tone controls, i think coil split humbuckers sound like she-ite, and phase switches don't phase me (ha!). i don't usually even need a 2nd volume ,unless 1) there's 2 outputs (duotone, synth pup); 2) i want to do the stuttering ace frehley toggle trick; "COLD GIN!!!" DAHHHHH-dah-dah-dah-da-da-da-daaaaa......
