  1. classic band, one of my faves. classic line up guitarists gorham/robertson used les pauls w/ mini hums (deluxe?) thru marshalls. i saw the chinatown tour ~80, w/ gorham & snowy white there are some decent best of comps, my fave lizzy albums are live and dangerous (not very live but definately dangerous), black rose (w/ gary moore), jailbreak, chinatown. my very fave is the Peel Sessions, which is a best of performances on John Peels BBC show, great raw versions! old truck edit:
  2. cool idea, but it needs a cover, its fugly.
  3. here, here! all hail brother eric, he speaketh the truth. all i need is 2 pups, a 3 way toggle, and a volume; i typically never use a guitars tone controls, i think coil split humbuckers sound like she-ite, and phase switches don't phase me (ha!). i don't usually even need a 2nd volume ,unless 1) there's 2 outputs (duotone, synth pup); 2) i want to do the stuttering ace frehley toggle trick; "COLD GIN!!!" DAHHHHH-dah-dah-dah-da-da-da-daaaaa......
  4. alls well that ends well!
  5. +1 one on geezer butler, john paul jones, & geddy lee, my 3 faves. i gotta mention flea. he started out w/ the amazing yet somewhat overdone slap funk style, yet has evolved into a very melodic old school classic rawk style, ala JPJ or sir paul.
  6. hahahaaa!!!! man thats funny. i didn't like slayer until SOH; when they slowed it down a little and grooved, i dug it. also dig SEASONS IN THE ABYSS; back in the day (~'90), me & bruiser brody used to drink ourselves stupid while listening to seasons, cowboys from hell, and badmotorfinger. good times.
  7. something that will facilitate clean, gain, and a level/sustain boost (for solos). when using pedals, i get a good clean tone from the amp, then i use an OD, & a comp to boost for solos (clean or gainy). but since i got my H&K switchblade, i have different presets w/ various gain/EQ/volume settings (& delay). & a tuner.
  8. led zep - dvd (the acoustic set especially is great) pantera - 3 vulgar videos from hell (heavy, & often hilarious) miles davis story rolling stones r&r circus (not for the stones but the who, they fookin KILL on this) charlie hunter - right now live king crimson - live 81 (?) metal - a headbangers journey ozzy - don't blame me (also hilarious) jimi - band of gypsys sublime - lies, stories & exagerations (very hilarious) talmadge farlow (amazing yet humble jazz guitarist) santana's influences (goofy narrative from carlos, but killer footage of wes montgomery, bolo sete, & gabor szabo) the dvd that comes w/ the "rodrigo y gabriella" cd (killer latin acoustic duo) jaco pastorius instructional vid (live in the studio w/ scofield & kenwood denard) also, most of the "classic album" series are fun
  9. so sorry, brother.
  10. yes, strunz & farah are very cool, i need to p/u some of their stuff. rod & gab mention them on the dvd as an influence.
  11. the al di meloa thread reminded me to post about rod y gab; dunno if they have been discussed here already, but i just got this cd, and its really great. they are a latin acoustic instrumental duo, w/ metal influences. their tunes and sound remind me of dimeola's classic acoustic tunes like "fantasia suite", "passion grace & fire", & the whole "sat night in san francisco" album (w/ john mclaughlin & paco delucia). check e'm out at http://www.rodgab.com/
  12. fun gig for generic hustle tonight. the other band also had horns, so brian & brad sat in, it sounded killer
  13. my bassist turned me onto in flames , yet another great riffy metal band (w/ non-melodic vocals, which i don't like). here's my fave tune (instrumental!), dialogue w/ the stars w/ visuals from a video game (?); here's somebody doing all the parts at home; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki1jMkKHOY4...feature=related reminds me of lizzy/maiden
  14. not a custom order, but i did customize this sweet player special fm that i scored from zoner w/ a phatcat /duncan custom & some chrome (pic from halloween, ha); currently awaiting the chineese custom fake hamer LP supreme (thats a mouthful) from scooter;
  15. here's another (but she really needs to dress up more for the stage) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l90LHdb0sQI
  16. wow, that's a major clearance. i hope everthing is ok w/ you, bobs.
  17. i'm back from cancun, belated sunburnt hungover wishes to one of my favorite HFCers.
  18. the version of "son & daughter" on the live BBC cd sounds like sabbath w/ mercury singing, unreal heaviness and tone. i took "rocks" and added 2 or 3 tunes from BBC to make my ultimate queen mix.
  19. haha!!!! yeowch. ok, i'll play;
  20. bad pic, you can't really tell that both my hamers have a bunch of small dings. the dean is brand new.
  21. happy bday fellas!
  22. if i coulda found something like that scotti i wouldn't have bought the dean (which i'm enjoying). i even hit up laura press to sell me her floyded special (she said "nope").
  23. wow, that brought back some memories! shades of yellow submarine/monty python in the animation.
