  1. At home on Safari on my iPhone the pics took like 2 minutes to load and initially appeared as icons with question marks. On Chrome on my Windows work laptop I'm getting the "May be" broken image links others are seeing.
  2. Looks like a lot of guitar for the money. GLWTS
  3. Best wishes for your health, Mike!
  4. I went through an extended anti-figure period but have come around to this point of view.
  5. Because so many makers had used the S, T and P shapes for so many years (without a peep from Fender) that the shapes ceased to be a unique signifier of who made the guitar. The LP shape hasn't been quite as widely copied, so Gibson was able to register the shape as a trademark. But as has already been posted, they weren't able to prove likelihood of consumer confusion in the PRS case. Gibson has the trademark on the headstock, not on the Les Paul body which is one of many reasons PRS won the case. This isn't correct. You can read the appeals court decision here: http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/people/tfisher/IP/2005_Gibson_Abridged.pdf The court didn't invalidate Gibson's trademark on the LP body shape. That trademark still stands today. PRS won the case because the court decided there wasn't any infringement of Gibson's (valid) trademark because it wasn't likely that consumers would confuse a Singlecut with an LP.

  10. I agree with this, but it would be sad if music lost the human touch.
  11. When you say "the old days," I assume you mean in the days before radio.
  12. I think you meant peak to trough amplitude. Peak to peak I think of as speed/rate. Anyway, when you turn down a mix knob you're just dialing up the level of the trough, and the slope of the wave gets squashed just like with a depth knob. Mathwise I think it's the same thing unless you're in stereo.
  13. Aren't depth and mix knobs the same thing?
  14. Mike, when you have a moment to breathe I'd be interested in your thoughts on: What designs/shapes you plan to use. For example, in your menu you list Single Cut. Is that going to be your own twist on the genre? How much will you follow the Hamer playbook vs. doing your own thing? For example, neck construction, finishing, wood sourcing, etc.Are there designs that are off-limits because they were Hamer originals? Will you do a version of the Newport, for example?Do you have a signature headstock for the non-Explorer-shaped guitars?
  15. Nice, huge Beck fan here too!
  16. Yes! Time for me to start dreaming. BTW, what is the special offer?
  17. And the middle of the Young Lust solo.
  18. A link would help.... http://www.bcrmusic.com/repair_pages/Hamer%20early%20Standard%20headstock%20repair.htm
  19. Gorgeous, congrats! Now play the snot out of it!
