  1. Kudos to GC for treating you right.
  2. Hmm, from the title I was expecting variable attenuation, which would've been a neat trick. Still, I can see this being popular nowadays.
  3. I came close to pulling the trigger on that one many times, but successfully held out for my ultimate goal of a black Newport. Disagree about the cream P-90 cover. If anything I'd put the black P-90 back in the neck. And if I really wanted to piss people off, I'd swap all the hardware and polepieces for gold.
  4. I've been on the lookout for a black Newport of any variety for many years. In Kaki's listing of her natural Newport Pro (https://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/104071-psa-hamer-newport-pro-and-check-out-the-seller/), she mentioned that her black one got more use. I couldn't help myself and PMed her saying that if she ever thought about selling that one to please let me know. One thing led to another, and: I love how it's clearly gotten a ton of playing time but still looks beautiful. You can probably see in the 1st pic how Kaki's fierce nails impacted the top. Interestingly it's the lightest of my three and has the most top and bottom end. My Pro Custom has a very mid-focused sound, and the N90 is somewhere in between. What can I say, I'm a lucky guy!
  5. Ouch, that sucks. Definitely fixable, but it won't be free or invisible.
  6. Another one: https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Hamer/Used-Hamer-NEW-PORT-PRO-Natural-Hollow-Body-Electric-Guitar.gc
  7. That one's also on TGP: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/usa-hamer-newport-pro-custom-2250-shipped.2615371/
  8. At home on Safari on my iPhone the pics took like 2 minutes to load and initially appeared as icons with question marks. On Chrome on my Windows work laptop I'm getting the "May be" broken image links others are seeing.
  9. Looks like a lot of guitar for the money. GLWTS
  10. Best wishes for your health, Mike!
  11. I went through an extended anti-figure period but have come around to this point of view.
  12. Because so many makers had used the S, T and P shapes for so many years (without a peep from Fender) that the shapes ceased to be a unique signifier of who made the guitar. The LP shape hasn't been quite as widely copied, so Gibson was able to register the shape as a trademark. But as has already been posted, they weren't able to prove likelihood of consumer confusion in the PRS case. Gibson has the trademark on the headstock, not on the Les Paul body which is one of many reasons PRS won the case. This isn't correct. You can read the appeals court decision here: http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/people/tfisher/IP/2005_Gibson_Abridged.pdf The court didn't invalidate Gibson's trademark on the LP body shape. That trademark still stands today. PRS won the case because the court decided there wasn't any infringement of Gibson's (valid) trademark because it wasn't likely that consumers would confuse a Singlecut with an LP.

  14. They were going to use Steinberger trems.

  17. I agree with this, but it would be sad if music lost the human touch.
  18. When you say "the old days," I assume you mean in the days before radio.
