  1. Congratulations on the good news (from what I've seen, not all spinal fusions end up with happy outcomes) and thank you for your generousity. I'll take the dark guitar strap if it's still available. Let me know and I'll email you my address. -Austin
  2. +1 - but i'm guessing it's short-scale, right? that's a deal-breaker for me these days. mike But Short Scale + P90's = Yummyliciousness!
  3. Wow, that looks sweet! That's the first new Hamer I've Gassed over in a long time. I wonder what model P90's they're putting in it. I don't imagine they would stay with the Hot neck/Custom bridge combo they have in the Special's and Artists, but who knows? -Austin
  4. I'm ready to donate, just let me know who to PayPal it to. Also, on the other board DavidE questioned whether it would be better to do this or to donate to the charity that was mentioned in Nightwolf's obituary. I have no problem sending the family the money and then letting them donate it if they wish. -Austin
  5. Hey, I resemble that remark! I love floating trems (including Floyds). IMO, any effect they have on my tone is more than compensated by the fun stuff I can do with them. Still, it's nice to have the Special for certain things. -Austin
  6. Who the hell is that woman in your signature?!?
  7. True, although I believe all the Californians have 3-piece maple necks. -Austin
  8. I put that in the Baker the other day and took it out after about 15 minutes! Still, I'm not willing to give up on it yet... I tell you what, If I manage to hang onto this guitar for a year, I'll give you a call about the Alnico P90
  9. Pretty? Yes. Mean? No.
  10. ROTFLMAO!! Over what? Some guys not liking Priest? LOL!! Give me a break. If he is that thin skinned, then these forums are *not* for him. +1! I hope I'm not blamed for this.
  11. Did Ty ever really play Hamers much. I thought he was mostly Fender, Zion and Yamaha. As far as Dug, I think Yamaha through some money at him. When you're a struggling musician ever little bit helps. -Austin
  12. I think someone might have posted that before. Either way, great performance of a great song. -Austin
  13. You're joking right? Being from the Satriani/Vai school, I'm of the opinion that a non-recessed Floyd is sacriligeous! I guess it all depends on where you're from. I wouldn't touch a guitar with a non-recessed Floyd with a 10-foot pole!! I thought something looked wrong with that guitar, but I didn't realize what it was until Serial's commend on the pup mounting rings. I think it would definitely look better if they matched the binding. And also, the headstock should be bound. Anyway, this gives me hope that someday, when I save up the thousands of dollars it will require, I'll be able to get my Watson with a Floyd -Austin
  14. I didn't want to name names because I could remember which Mike it was . As to not wanting to use a push-pull because of quality reason, Ron Thorn recently came to the same conclusion on his guitars, which puts Hamer in good company as far as I'm concerned. -Austin
  15. Wasn't there a 3-P90 Standard that used the switching you're describing (ie. regular 3 way with push pull for middle pickup)? Anyway, I prefer a 5 way blade with a push-pull (or, better yet, miniswitch) as a bridge-always-on switch myself. That way I don't have to readjust my thinking too much to get all the combinations. -Austin
  16. Hell, I'd love to have an OLD set neck Cali! They must be nice because the chosen few that have them seem to be holding onto them .
  17. 1 year later and that guitar's still looking sweet as hell! Awesome! -Austin
  18. As far as metal goes, I think any number of current Hamer guitars could be used for that after maybe a pickup swap. All sorts of metal is played on Gibson-scale TOM guitars so Standard, Studios, and Monaco Elites would fit right in. For downtuning, there's the Subtone. However, I am a bit bummed that Hamer isn't producing anything I'd call a shred axe (24 frets, high-performance trem) nowadays. It's not a big deal for me though because lately I've been buying used and there are still plenty of sweet Hamer shredders available on the used market. -Austin
  19. Sweet! I'm a little surprised that Hamer built it given Jol's attitude towards "dirty wood", but that looks awesome! Especially with the black hardware and ebony fretboard. -Austin
  20. If only I still lived in the MidWest. Sounds like lots of fun was had by all. -Austin
  21. Umm, when the heck did these come out? I like to keep up on the multi-effects world, but I haven't heard anything about these. -Austin Oh, and what are the specs on the guitar you're using on that track?
  22. I have a GT-8 and I like how it sounds more than the Pod XT Live; however, I'm using it strictly with headphones and for some recording here and there (not through an amp). The GT-8 is a much deeper unit than the Pod XT Live and everything can be done on the unit itself (the PXTL was a bit of a nightmare to program without the computer interface). However, I'd recommend trying both in a store somewhere and seeing what you think. They definitely sound different; which one's best is up to you. Oh, I'd also give the Digitech GNX3000 a look as well. I believe it's one generation ahead of the other two, seems to have a pretty good interface, and sounds really nice from the samples I've heard. -Austin
  23. The 2 name thing is interesting, but anyone who cares can usually find out that you've bought a guitar on eBay and are now trying to resell it without too much effort. Example; I keep my eye out for Cali's that are being sold on eBay. So when one comes up, I put it in my watch list (even though I'm not really looking to buy or sell, I like to see what they're going for). If the same guitar was sold and then came back up for sale a couple week later, I'd notice and I imagine most people with an eye out for Cali's would too. Especially if the original auction mentioned the serial#. -Austin
