With the exception of some *killer* Joe Shlabotnik pickups, the guitar is dead stock.

IIRC Guitar Player (back when they actually did good gear reviews) had an amp shootout of a bunch of uber-booteeek stuff at the time. This was back in the late 80's early 90's IIRC. The big players were THD, Kendrick, VHT, Matchless, and a few other I can't recall. They all got blown away by the Trainwreck. While that might not be the only reason for the status skyrocket, it sure as hell contributed. I had never heard of THD, Kendrick, VHT or Matchless at the time but I made it a point to get my ass to Venimanns(sp?) music in DC to check out the VHTs. I wound up walking out with a VHT Pittbull 2x12 that they raved about. Turns out they were right on the money with their evaluation. I used to love it when the blasted a piece of gear for being a POS. They wound up sinking Bedrock amps. After they slagged his amp he had a fit and wrote them a scathing letter. They turned around and published his letter and made him look like a complete ass. Listen to that clip on Youtube...I can't think of many amps that are that touch sensitive. Would I pay 40K? Not a chance...but I understand why some people would.

Love it. I despise the uniform, pinstripe maple tops that are all the rage. Hell, I am not even a fan of bookmatching...LOL!!! The Redwoods were a great idea but they missed the boat by not making them hollow, and I didn't like the uniformity of the wood. Redwood should look like this... Hamer is not the only one making this mistake though...I see all the builders looking for that bookmatched/striped look, which tells me that I am in the minority on this issue. This Earthen guitar looks like a homerun... Great job Hamer!!!!

Maybe so...but I have figured one thing out when it comes to these shows. If you were having a blast...then so was the crowd. They feed off the energy of the band. Trust me on this one...we suck a lot. LOL!!!!!!!

Well...how could it be the backing track when Ed's guitar is the only instrument out of tune? The Bass is right with the track, and it seems obvious that Dave was singing to the track. This one falls on Ed or his tech IMHO.

Financially speaking you are absolutely correct, however, the current Guild acoustics blow chunks. I have owned several Guild acoustics and they were all solid guitars. I have yet to play a new one that was worth a damn.

I love the Cali, but my all time favorite super strat is definitely the Jackson PC-1. That might just be the most underrated guitar in history.

The Tremoverb and Roadking are two of the best sounding amps I have ever heard. My Roadking is simply spectacular. I can get any sound I want out of it. I really can't say enough about it.
