  1. No. They just have to fit into Boogies range. These do. It sounds great. You can call most of the big tube places and tell them you need power tubes for a Boogie and they normally have stuff that fits. I know lots of guys that use JJs and Tads for their power section. Besides..biasing, like intonation, is for pussies. LOL!! The Trem o verb is still here.
  2. Damn, I am at a loss for words. For years I have used my Fargens for my amps. Until I played this. Long story short, I sold my EL34 Fargen and bought a Trem o verb so I could get a little extra cash. I figure I would use the Trem o verb for all of my live work and pocket the extra $700 from the sale of my Fargen. WRONG!! I really dug the Trem o verb. I was shocked because I have *not* been a Boogie fan. Their amps always sounded sterile to me ears. Well, the Trem o verb changed that. I was able to get sweet clean sounds. This blew my mind because I have always *hated* Boogies clean tone. I knew the OD channel would be nice, but again, this thing is really alive. It is articulate, responds well to volume control on the guitar, and has a really lush tone. ANYWAY I have heard guys raving about the Road King so I decided to go out to the local GC and see what the deal was. Well, they had a Series I Road King for me to play. I was completely blown away. There wasn't a single sound that I couldn't get. I could cop about 90% of my EL34 Fargens tone, and that was just scratching the surface. I was completely overwhelmed. I also realized that the amp would eliminate the need for all of my pedals. No need for a boost on this amp, and I can run all of the effects through the loop and control them from the Kontroller. Hmmm....interesting. I started to do some math and realized that I could get the Road King for minimal cash if I sold all of my pedals along with the Trem o verb. I speak with "she who must be obeyed" and she agrees that it makes sense. The dude at GC starts talking to me and tells me that because this was a Series I Road King he could cut me a sweet deal. These are $2500 new. I walked out the door with a new Road King I for under 2K. No brainer. My pedals and the Trem O verb cover this and then some. I get it home and run it through my Cajun Cannon and it shook the friggin foundation of the house. LOL!!! Never one to leave well enough alone, I decide to put some new tube in there to see if I can really get things cooking. It now sports the following tubes.... V1,2,&3 have NOS Mullards V3,&4 have NOS Tesla E83CC El34s have NOS Sylvania 6CA7 6L6 have NOS Phillips 7581As Good lord. So here it is. The most versatile, sweet sounding, bone crunching, bitch slapping amp I have ever heard. Perched on top of the best sounding cab in the world. I had to make some speaker mods to the cab though. This was way too much amp to put into a 60 watt cab. So I got hold of some Emi Wizards and now have a 150 watt cab. It isn't as sweet sounding as it used to be, but it thumps like no other. I really want to thank Mobbie for talking to me about this and letting me know what the Road King was all about. It really helped me make my decision and I couldn't be happier.
  3. ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious.
  4. An AT7 is not a 7025. The 7025 is a lower gain AX7. IIRC, I could be wrong though. You can still get some decent NOS EL34s at good prices. Boogie still has the Seimens EL34 listed on their site for $70 a pair. Considering the Mullard Reissues are going for around $50 a pair, this is a no brainer. IMHO of course.
  5. Dude...I told you before that Voodoo is for uneducated Haitians, and tourists. My wifes family practices Obeah. By coincidence Obeah was also the preferred practice of Alister Crowley. The islanders fear this stuff. It is not a joke to them. If I have to tell you again, I will be forced to report you to Denise who will promptly call her great Aunt in the islands. Woe onto you who doesn't take heed of my warning. LOL!!!
  6. Dream on. That guitar was made for Prince. I would bet if any of us requested that guitar Hamer would... 1. Tell us NO. 2. Tell us YES and charge 10K. LOL!!! (Poe ducks to avoid the flying things thrown from the masses.)
  7. I had one and it was a smoking guitar. Mine was a 1993 IIRC.
  8. Iron Maiden and Priest Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Priest Accept, Dio Skid Row, Bon Jovi
  9. A Hamer Special is short scale and not 25.5 like a Strat. The guitars are apples and oranges though. The build quality of the Hamer is better IMHO, but the design is way different. The Specials have more in common with a LP Special than a real LP. Think about it... LP 1. Single cut 2. Maple cap...not a laminate 3. Thicker body The Hamer doesn't share any of those characteristics.
  10. Here are a few....sorry but they are all Hubers. Us rich school teachers have a rep to protect.
  11. Not even close...that distinction goes to the Kendrick Continental.
  12. Great guitars. I am not crazy about his pups, but all of the Suhrs I have played have been amazing guitars.
  13. Frampton, Cheap Trick, Skynyrd...One More from the Road might just be the best live album of all time IMHO.
  14. Sorry to hear that Frank. My deepest sympathies.
  15. That purple Mel is a monster...an absolute killer guitar. I WANT THAT DAMN LIGHT BLUE MEL!!! AGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
  16. I use the Boss tuner and it works just fine. It isn't as precise as a Peterson, but you can pick them up for about $60 on the used market. They are well built and work perfectly for live use. The wah for under $150 is a no brainer to me. In this range I haven't heard anything that sounds like my Teese Wizard wah. The thing kills, is built like a tank, and Teese has some of the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
  17. Best guitar I ever owned was a 63 or 64 SG. It was stolen from me at a gig while I was getting a piece of ass in the parking lot. It was a fantastic guitar.
  18. Actually, that *could* be a grain pattern. Right above it is a smaller but similar grain pattern right below the high E tuner. It doesn't look right to me either, but you never know. Guys like Greg, Andrew, and Pete know a helluva lot more than me, thats fo sho!
  19. To mention Mick Mars with those guys is blasphemy.
  20. I'll echo Stike and Chris... You are doing wonderful work, that is obvious. If I were you, I would seriously consider getting into building cabs that are covered, as well as the natural wood cabs you are building. The reason I would stay away from a natural wood cab is that I would be hesitant to take it to a gig for fear that it would get dinged. Tolex, or other covering material takes that reservation away. The crazier the beeter for a lot of us giggers...wood just doesn't have the same impact as a silver sparkle with bass boat flames when it is sitting behind you on a stage..LOL!! If you were interested in trying to build a 4X10 cab covered in a lac. tweed or something crazy, I would be happy to let you have a crack at it. Either way... Fantastic job bro! I love seeing stuff like this from guys who are doing it for the love of the game.
  21. LOL! Yeah...I sold it to you ...dickhead. LOL!!! Who has it now?
  22. Who owns that hardtail now? That was a great guitar, I should never have sold it.
  23. Sweet!!! You guys rule. I am still trying to get out to Bruce's...so hopefully I will see you there.
  24. Hmmmm...looks like the construction worker from the Village People was at the party...
