  1. Murphy lab and custom paint. They scanned the original guitar to duplicate the neck. Also, a custom flight case, medallion thingy and exclusivity of the 50 pc run. Getcha pull!
  2. GHS sells the gorgomyte.
  3. Had a great experience in 2005 ordering my custom Dean ML thru Eddie. We went a little crazy with options then the Dean guys really delivered on that spec. He was just starting the CarIin0 line, but I thought they were mostly fugly knockoff guitars that didn't interest me. Sorry to hear about your experience.
  4. Congrats. I have a couple...
  5. That kind of rebuild is not without risk. I had a historic rebuilt/refinished a few years ago. The process screwed up the neck & truss rod anchor. The guy that did the work passed away and I'm stuck with this "guitar".
  6. How about Al DiMeola or Neal Schon? Alex Lifeson. Forget that stuff. A custom 24 just looks cooler than a Monaco or Studio Custom. Who wants to blow $3200+ to spec out a SC when there's numerous ones for sale constantly? What Hamer does best is Explorers and Vees. There is not tremendous demand for those guitars anyway. What I find most puzzling about the Hamer brand is they are held in such high regard yet owners seem to flip their Hamers constantly (many thanks btw). Player X gets studio custom, its the greatest instrument ever only to be flipped 6 months later. Even zandards have passed thru multiple hands (bubs you still owe me). I don't get it. I'm glad the craftsman still have a gig. I don't see this as the end of Hamer. The break will do us all good. They'll be back doing reissues.
  7. You still have first dibs my friend
  8. This post reminds me of a famous saying... It is better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and resolve all doubt. ~Abraham Lincoln So wise beyond your years. How's your little flamefest thread over on TGP going?
  9. Ya'll are really beginning to sound like a bunch of crybabies. It's just a picture and to someone without an axe to grind its just a pic of a guy spraying a guitar. That's all. Jol tried to elevate the brand past the three fiddy crowd, alienated some customers and was shown the door. Now he's got his own thing & clearly doesn't need to earn a living or sell a single guitar. If anything the HFC comes off a pricks for shitting on everything about a website & business in development without even seeing a completed instrument. Funny thing is if Jol builds a guitar for Tipton this forum will collectively blow its wad. Flame on.
  10. I have a white factory Hamer. Seems like everyone got what they wanted no? Hamer is building classic shredders again & Jol is doing his own thing and seems to be setup as stay out of our hair. All we need is the economy to come back. Only then will folks be able to enjoy an uptick in the 'Twas a good day posts.
  11. Lost it long ago. Seems like ebay is packed full of cheapie freebie listings for things like roll-out plastic pianos and stuff esp in the pro audio section. Just tons of junk. Yeah I remember winning items on ebay but this was long ago before there was online sniping sites and the proliferation of the home based ebay business. I still buy some pro audio things on ebay...just got a Yamaha synth from Pixar that arrived broken (I was able to fix it). Currently looking for a compressor something like an MC77. Almost got burned on GS so that's out...where else do you get this kind of stuff? Went thru the ringer trying to sell a Motif synth and Boogie Stiletto earlier this year on craigslist and on various forums. Spent months trying to move that gear but it sold for more than I was asking locally when I posted it on the bay. Ebay still has it's uses but I don't like using it.
  12. You missed the point. The rub is when they refuse a custom option when asked by Joe but then build it for Jack 6 months later.
  13. Mike seemed a whole lot more humble during the Eddie Trunk interview. His initial -ex leader-letter rubbed me the wrong way too but the interview cleared up lots of things. I figure he'll be back for the 2012-2013 album. My wish is for DT will take a chance & get a guy like Mike Mangini...really raise the bar for when MP makes his return.
  14. Portnoy really makes the effort to connect with the fans...the guy seems tireless in keeping the fanbase up to date, putting together tours, ytsejam stuff, all the projection video and all the live DVDs. None of the drummers mentioned in this thread do that. None of the other members of DT do that unless it's related to an endorsing a product...otherwise they must be off in little rooms practicing. I'd venture to guess MP had a major role in them getting a deal. The dude has major passion for the biz as well as playing the drums. He'll be missed.
  15. Mobil 1 in my '03 Nissan Maxima. Good stuff.
  16. Well those pics ruined it for me....out out of the running
  17. 8 US Hamers here...no loyality, zip, nada. No f'n way. Ain't happening
  18. YES! That looks great. Love the headstock overlay & the position of the logo...crowns too. Someone is gonna be happy....
  19. Nothing is more metal than the Warlock
  20. +1 Well said. I had to look it up: Hubris: "the excessive pride and ambition that usually leads to the downfall of a hero in classical tragedy"
  21. Jol nailed it with the Earthen Studio. I think Hamer buys the JB/59 set for next to nothing, knowing it's good enough & most folks will change them out anyway. Most of mine are swapped out...WCR, Suhr, Harmonic designs. But I kept all ones with the factory EMGs
  22. Schenker Assault Attack Malmsteen Marching Out Queensryche Warning, Rage for Order & their 1st album whatever it was called Talas
  23. There's an ESP with slanted fretboard...not quite the same thing.
  24. Another big fan of the Tyler headstock & logo. Took me years to come around.
  25. Indian Rosewood or Vulcanized maple. I have 3 IRW guitars that just bloom like crazy. I love ebony only for the looks & feel but many times I think my guitars would have been better served with a different 'board. The ebony boarded guitars are the worst offenders when it comes to tuning stability. They really like to drift sharp right on the stand.
