  1. I still have 2 Artist's and wish I still had my NewPort Pro. In comparison I found the Newport to be smoother/mellow with the spuce top. The Newport is the only Hamer I didn't switch pickups in. The Seth Lover's where perfect in that guitar. In comparison to a Gibson 390 or 339 the fit and finish of the Newport and Artist are better. Tone?.... to me they all rocked!
  2. I'm digging the Chrome pickguard!!!
  3. This was my favorite Rod Stewart period. With the Faces. Their recordings are raw and real. No fancy studio stuff, just solid Rock&Roll.
  4. Historic Fuzz tones. Was 179.99 now 89.99. I bought a Bender. Jhs makes good stuff. Just go to their website.
  5. That is the image I used to tell which tenon it has!
  6. That was a short search! I was hunting on my phone during movie night and my son asked what I was looking for. I told him a SG with a long Tenon. This morning he comes over carrying a guitar case and said if you like it it's yours. So I opened the case and this was inside! A 2002 SG Standard from what I can gather. Has the long tenon! He bought it new from WestSide music in LA. Never played it. Didn't like it, preferred the Strat I gave him. With this and getting my pain meds back it's been a fantastic week 🤗 WOW!!!
  7. Thanks to all! I have an Eastman DC Jr with a NC Fralin in it. Feather weight, I rate it with the custom shop Jr's I tried. So I'm thinking the 60's reissue is gonna be the ticket. I just looked at the new Custom Shop models and I personally don't think they're worth what the hang tag is asking. I still have my old friend Hamer Special, just looking for something else to play for a while!
  8. Like the title say's! I searched and found out enough to know I needed help. I'm looking for a newer model with the long neck tenon. SG historians let it fly.
  9. I've got 2 lovely 12vrs! Newport with Birdseye Top and Veillette Gryphon. The Gryphon is high strung and sounds like a mandolin. Plays like a guitar. Really fun instrument.
  10. Aren't Tone King and Freidman and a few others made in the same place? Seems I watched Dave give a tour, lots of stuff going on in that warehouse!!
  11. I was watching Phil on Know Your Gear and he mentioned it. I'm in the "Fender will absorb it like the blob." Then start shitting out crappy G&L's. American G&L guitars are great guitars...BUT... They are so close to Fenders those that can't tell a good guitar from a crappy guitar are going to buy the name on the headstock. The best Strat's I've ever owned where not Fender Custom shop made and I had plenty of them. They where a Hamer Daytona and a Meloncon. Fenders custom shop strats where fussy, didn't like the weather changes guitars have to endure in the Dakota's.
  12. I've been using the UA OX Box for a while now. The attenuator feature works better than any other I've used before. Keeps me under control and it's got a bunch of different speaker emulations to send to the FOH. If they want it really quiet I put on a set of K240's. I can still hear every one else and my guitar is hot in my ears.
  13. I built one of Josh's Not a Clon It's not a clon. Still sounds good tho! I could never see the whole Clon thing. So many other fantastic OD's out there. I'm still using my Barber LTD from early 2000. Still a more better pedal.
  14. Maybe @hamerhead might have some of the ones he machined still?
  15. There is a show on YouTube called "Ask Zac" he's buddies with Brad and he goes thru the whole dilemma of getting Brad's tele's paisley. Plus a whole bunch of Smashville inside tone tricks, speaker shoot outs much more. He's a pretty fair picker himself!! https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCuev4obOPg9grzv6O7ddOfg
  16. Welcome! You'll find yourself daydreaming about Hamer USA guitars after you've given them a ride! This CruiseBass 2TEK is a Jazz Bass Killer!!
  17. I love the 4 way switch on a tele. You get the regular plus a combined which is thicker and very much like a humbucker! It's a well kept secret!
  18. Thank you! I think you nailed it. Now to get that Melancon at a great price!!!
  19. Many years ago I built theile 18" speaker cabinets. A whole bunch for bottom end for a touring road show. We did use some Owen's Corning 703 in those cabs to dampen them which tightened up the Thump. I have also had the 806 12" with no insulation and EVM speakers. Gloriously loud!!!
  20. It's from a Melancon Custom T. Someone removed the original and replaced it with a Fender Ash Tray model. Gerard Melancon has passed so getting one from him is impossible.
  21. Thinking about dropping in a Humbucker in my Melancon Bridge position. Hoping to get a really good humbucker tone for leads etc! I have Mojotone hot 58's in it now. I play the same ride on my Suhr ALT T It's giving me what I want to hear. But I want to keep it at 2 guitars on stage. The other is tuned to open E for slide. So I would appreciate any ideas you guys have tried and worked for you! Thank You!
  22. A picture is worth a 1000 words!
  23. From what I've witnessed you plug the real amp into the Kemper push some buttons turn some knobs and it makes noises like R2D2 with the shits and then it's all over. It just profiled your amp. Less than an hours time from start to finish.
  24. I have the P90 version of this. Incredible guitar! Somebody's gonna be a happy new owner! GLWTS
  25. I love that you're still using amps!! Played a quiet stage gig on the 4th and it was horrible to hear the expressiveness of the guitar. That was thru an ox box. Lovely Schishkov's on this thread. It's my next "I need it Guitar"!!!!
