  1. Turn off the negative feed back and you'll have a little more Tweedy tone. I disconnect the ground switch and use that to turn the negative feedback off and on. It's a easy mod, doesn't hurt anything. Uncle Doug has some great videos on how to achieve this.
  2. I have just found out that Erik Johnson was seen using 2 Bandmasters! So that's 2 superstars that have or are using them. Eddie VH in his early years and now Erik Johnson. I'm glad that these awesome amps are getting the credit they deserve! Great pedal platform and the sweetest clean tone! Makes for a great recording gigging amp!
  3. Sweet!! I've had a few, still have a Tele! You'll enjoy, they're at Hamer level instruments!
  4. Daytona's are awesome! I recently sold mine but I still have a pickguard!
  5. LA-2A report. Well it came off the board. I used it trying the compressor and limiter sides and the release time features along with the buffer/bypass features. It's a great compressor, very similar to the old Diamond compressor. I also compared it to the Barber Tone Press. All tests where done thru a Blackface AB763 Circuit and the final judge my very old ears! Impression! I think the LA-2A would make a great compressor for Bass Guitars along with guitar. I also think it would work well as a percussion compressor. It's quiet, easily dialed in and didn't get pumpy like some do. Final impression! It's a great multi purpose compressor. Just Like the Diamond is, but has more features. I went back to the Barber Tone Press. I just like what it does to the upper spectrum in guitar Tone. Sweeten's it up. But that's just me. YMMV!
  6. Josh and I spent a few days fishing together a couple years ago. If you want to get to know someone spent 10 hours in a boat together. He quickly became family and we had a blast. Plus he went home with a big bag of fish!!! Super Great Guy!!!
  7. I know he was trying to get his music back. I think he may have got some. But doing the Taylor Swift trick and the middle finger sounds about perfect for the assholes that ripped him off. And perhaps a pineapple up their collective asses every morning!!!
  8. I've just slapped a LA2A on my board. Very little time with it. It's going against some tough competition with a Barber little feet compressor and a Diamond Compressor. At first use it acts very much like the Diamond. Close parameters on the led color changes. I think they're all more better pedals just running thru them. More to come!
  9. He did a minor midwest tour a few years ago. Just picking up talent locally. My jammin buddy got the nod playing bass at one of these gigs. As did @JGravelin. I got to hang out at my buddys show. Just a funny sweet heart of a guy. Tons of storys!
  10. Furman is my go to! I would wire a 200 amp distro for the band and lights. No one used house power just the distro. On the top of every rack there was a furman.
  11. This ^^^^ amp head and a 1-12 4ohm cabinet. Lots of power or just enough and all of it sounding so smooth!! Think of the intro to Wicked Game. That drips of an AB763 Circuit. On my Bandmaster I think I've seen women Climax!!! Lol!!
  12. I took the Fralins out of my Melancon. That is what was listed on the build sheet. Not sure what model but the ohm readout might help to figure that out. $150.00 shipped I ordered the volume/tone pickguard for my Daytona. But I don't have that any longer and it doesn't fit my Melancon. $50.00 Shipped.
  13. The ground from the output transformer is on the extension speaker output. I don't know where all the blow the transformer stuff came from. 4 ohms is 4ohms. The biggest thing I can think of is the regular speaker out has a grounded positive side just like the input Jack's. I've plugged into the wrong one in the dark many times. You know it as soon as you start playing. Big decrease in volume!
  14. Blackface versions were all Heads with 2X12 Cabinets. The Head locked to the cabinet. Just like the Bassman. The only way to tell a Bassman cab from a Bandmaster Cab is the space between the mounting hardware. Bassman being shorter. Eddy didn't start with Marshall's he dimed Bandmasters! https://wgsusa.com/blogs/news/eddie-van-halen-secret-amp-the-fender-bandmaster
  15. Pretty much. Leo did some switching to accommodate the power transformers and the output transformers but the circuit is very close to the same. All AB763 circuits. If you want that Blackface sound on a budget, get a Bandmaster!! WGS is making 4ohm speakers now! I like the WGS ET-65. So light weight load in and killer sound!!!
  16. I have 2 of these. AB763 Circuit with the swampiest Tremelo Creedance Lovers could ask for. I just don't understand why the Reverb Deluxe and the Twin get so much love but the Bandmaster is the RedHeaded step child. If it's the reverb many pedal reverb units sound better. Compared side by side I like my Bandmaster tone over the Deluxe Reverb and the Twin. It's more aggressive and mid forward, perfect for cutting thru a Drummer and Keys. So what's the thoughts from you guy's??? Why are Deluxe Reverbs $5000.00 now and Bandmasters around $1000.00??? Same parts with 1 minor stage for reverb in the Deluxe. Oh and 6V6 vs 6l6 and the appropriate transformers are different. But it's the exact same circuit!! It's a mystery to me because Bandmasters flat out got some tone!!!
  17. RCA Blackplates. I'm old and stocked up with GE and RCA tubes when they where practically giving them away. Been to a TV and electronics repair shop auction lately? I bought box's of tubes. Sold a bunch and kept the best. In my wildest dream I never thought it would get like it is now tho.
  18. I had a Monel GoldTop P90 that weighed 12lbs 3oz. Heaviest guitar I ever owned. Sounded frickin awesome!! I was younger then, nothing over 8 lbs now!
  19. That is supercool!! I don't recall The Who touring the midwest, while I saw Rush front bands in the midwest for years till they finally made it. You had an awesome high school!!!
  20. Thank you for saving that guitar!! I like the Sperm Whale truss rod cover! You might get hit on more often at gigs!!
  21. I love my EarCandy Sov. Kinda hard to find but awesome cab!
  22. That has to be the guitar save of the year!! Great Choices!!
