I think a lot of it has to do with how few theme songs there are in the vein of the older themes. W/o going back, I think all of the themes posted were written for their shows. More recently, that doesn't seem to be the case - either there's a very short, barely-there theme (like Seinfeld, for instance), or an older song is repurposed, such as the Who songs for the thousand or so CSIs. Thinking about the current shows I watch, I don't think there's a memorable theme for any of them. "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" has one, but the opening sequence is more memorable than the theme. Prior to that, the last memorable ones I can think of were "Big Bang Theory", "Young Sheldon", and "Dexter".

The Drew Carey Show had multiple themes. Later seasons had different versions of the songs with different edits. I always loved this one because Katy Selverstone is in it. And related - the Craig Ferguson Late Late Show theme:

Short-lived show with a pretty good cast and a great theme. Two versions in here. This is the original long version of the Soap theme, with background on the families. Later versions were shorter and had different endings. Couldn't find the original version of this w/the newscast: But the GOAT: Season 3 had an updated version w/Batgirl.

It should be pointed out that these are the UK MTV channels, not the US versions. Those are still up and running, although the one article states that there's still a (good?) chance that may change. MTV, much like TLC (The Learning Channel) and AMC (American Movie Classics), has a name that doesn't apply to what it delivers these days. It's a brand that means nothing. There seems to be so little music content across the various MTV and VH1 channels that there's really nothing to attract a music fan. Perhaps the most egregious example of MTV channel ruination is MTV Live, formerly Palladium. When it was Palladium, they showed a pretty good variety of concerts - I still have some on my DVR Then MTV took over, changed it to MTV Live, and it was like Clear Channel swooping in on XM Radio (and Sirius) - the variety of material shrunk to almost nothing. Although if you're a fan of the Springsteen Unplugged episode, it airs something like four or five times a week, it seems. Tons of Storyteller, Making Of The Band. Very little live music. Very little variety in shows - you'll rarely, if ever, see Classic Albums, or some of the old VH1 series. This is why physical media is important.

YouTube will allow you to change the playback speed without adjusting the pitch. There's software that will do the same - I use Transcribe, which will let you change the speed, the pitch, and I think it has EQ presets that will help remove or emphasize certain instruments. Also, Izotope's Music Rebalance will let you pull or eliminate some instruments. Neither of those is surgical, but I think Music Rebalance does it a bit better. The newer versions of Logic Pro apparently have a function that will split instruments out into separate tracks. The demos look good, but I haven't tried it myself, so I can't recommend it. But I plan to try it one of these days.

I don't think the truss rod screws are really holding much of anything. Seems like the two screws that you have to drill for would do the bulk of the work. Is there really any tension being held by the locking nut? Once you get the guitar in tune and lock it down, the only tension on the nut would be from raising the pitch using either the bar or the fine tuners, right? Doesn't seem like that would be too much of an issue, except maybe if you raised the bar to its limits. Even then, the pull would be parallel to the neck, so it doesn't seem like it would be torquing the nut against the screws. (Disclaimer - not an engineer, just watched the one on Petticoat Junction.)

Our show was pushed back a week or two. Very good show. The band - as you'd expect with Zito, Vivino, and Castiglia - is very good. It is not Bill Murray doing Nick The Lounge Singer. He's not an egomaniac about it, either - he sings about 30-40% of the songs, I think. Started a tad slow, but once the show got rolling, it took off. I'd absolutely go see them again.

Sometime in the last year or so, we saw a (much younger?) band opening a show. During the second song, one guitarist had that panicked look cross his face and he went back to his amp, started jiggling knobs - no sound. Back to his pedal board, played with a couple things - nothing. Check the guitar - still nothing. Back to the amp. Nothing. Climbed behind the amp - nothing. Check the guitar again. Check the pedal board. Check the amp. Talk to the roadie. Check the amp. Back to the pedal board. AHA! Dude had forgotten to unmute after tuning.

It's a great story. He had some great Jerry Jeff Walker stories, too.
