  1. Kinda' nice in here...
  2. Taking into account the guitars wanted above the 10.5K, I'd say the price is 14K to 15K. I know I wouldn't part with my '81 Koa Mock for less than 4K. Worth every penny, IMHO. This is like the Brock Burst.
  3. Recording practices is invaluable. Tell him the truth. Let him hear it. If he's mostly the rhythm player, he has to understand that clarity and crunch are his best friends. Tell him the challenge for him is to become the best rhythm player he can. As a former bass player, he should understand over-playing crowds the mix. Good luck.
  4. This is what we do sans the hair and tight clothes! Seventies and eighties stuff mostly. We played the songs when they were new. They're "Classic Rock" now. Soon to be oldies. Anything "new" we learn is from the same era.
  5. What's a four digit worth these days? That would be mine.
  6. I stopped listening to music on the radio long ago. If I didn't have children (daughter 23 and son 18), I'd never hear anything new. Being 52, I mostly just buy new stuff from bands and guitar players I've been listening to since the early nineties. Anything new I can steal from the kids!
  7. I'll advise Brent again. Keep it, dude. Nobody else has one, so far.
  8. I'm for the vintage bell cover too. I've also contacted Mike about using vintage style aged single-ring Klusons.
  9. If you ever get over to Orlando, go to Skycraft. It's a surplus store and they have chicken-heads in black, white and creme by the thousands! Good prices too. Is Skycraft near Disney World? Skycraft is about twenty minutes from Disney. It's on the northeast side of town. About a quarter of a mile off Interstate 4. Real easy to find.
  10. Did you know Bruce Marshall? He worked at Full Sail back when they first opened.
  11. If you ever get over to Orlando, go to Skycraft. It's a surplus store and they have chicken-heads in black, white and creme by the thousands! Good prices too.
  12. Veneer over chambering? The veneer on my old Special appeared too delicate to cover chambers. I'd envisioned the chambering would require a thicker top. I believe the tops over chambered bodies are, most likely, thicker than 4-Digit tops. I have one... It has original GregWinds now.
  13. I've purchased a couple of sets of Cream Tone knobs. One set will get mailed to Mike for my Ultimate.
  14. They look great on amps!
  15. Anyone speak for the prototype yet? I'd like a shot at that.
  16. "Impeccable".
  17. Just a cursory knowledge of economics would dictate that economies of scale aren't the focus here. With FMIC, economies of scale are a big part of what they do (higher production numbers reduce cost). A company with small numbers and no "middle-man" will focus on different economic factors. So, comparing the reasons why there was no flood of custom orders at "the end" of Hamer isn't really analagous. Honestly, this is probably the most difficult business model to project. It's simpler, but assumptions that are incorrect (pricing, custom models v. production runs, demand, etc.) can be much more lethal in this type of a business model. So, having every facet of the model in place at the beginning isn't something that's really possible. Initial demand might not be a good source of data for projecting the future either. I think that's where Chris is going with his advice to go slow.
  18. And a good question it is! I don't know.
  19. I like a good clown movie (the more sinister the better), but I'd never own a clownburst guitar. No talent in the spray booth is my first thought.
  20. I never considered Oxblood. I love the Jeff Beck Oxblood Les Paul. An Ultimate Oxblood. Uh....
  21. Just received my quote to get in on the second wave of Shishkov guitars. I'm so happy. I'm going with a blonde bound and crowned model. The dough will go out tomorrow.
  22. He's thinking the original run will be done in 4-6 months. Considering a big part of that time will be wood setup, I'd guess he'd be starting other orders while those were working. The second batch is still under a year. That's ambitious.
  23. Here it is. These are a good representation of the colors...
  24. Ordered a B&C Blonde with everything traditional. Standard-Style, of course.
