  1. I pay more than most would for the guitars I buy. I'll have to keep them longer to enjoy a return on my investment. Thank God I could care less about that. Many of the guitars I own I own because I paid more than anyone else would. Kizanski will tell you that I'm crazy and pay crazy prices. He'll also tell you he'd pay what I pay to get back the guitars he's sold me. Some of 'em anyway. Buy high and never sell. That's my motto.
  2. Fantastic!
  3. Any pedal you like along with a Klon is just better.....
  4. Well then, allow me to now submit my order for a mahogany Standard done up in replica of the 4 digit on the cover of the Book, with the burst finish, poker chip toggle cover, bound, crowned but with a Floyd Rose, 24 frets, and reverse head stock. Mmmm. Make two of 'em. But make mine vintage original spec.
  5. I've amassed a guitar for every week (yes, it's a sickness), so it's my Ian Anderson Standard this week.
  6. Lab L-7. The worst sounding amp I ever owned. For a 4x10 with 100watts, it sounded tiny in the mix.
  7. I sold a fifties Hamilton watch in perfect working condition to an eBayer. About five days after the guy received the watch, he threatened a claim to PayPal and a return, if I didn't agree to a $300 "adjustment". It needed repairs I missed. No package damage. No proof of damage. I just paid the $300 because it was a 4K deal. He was full of shit. I'm certain of it. I should have kept the damn watch.
  8. Gary O'Connor....eighties cheese videos, but good songs on the entire record with most everything played by him....great guitar sounds and a little unknown Hamer content in the second video.
  9. I have owned six or seven of them. Serial's take on the pickups is spot on. I do, however, have a killer blonde California Carved Top CT-6 that I stole on another forum about five years ago. I intended to swap the pickups upon arrival, but the previous owner said he had them wind his pickups with Alnico II magnets. It's the warmest and round sounding of all the Carvins I've owned or played. Coil taps are, however, worthless (too weak). More important than the pickups having a "healthy amount of suck (thanks, Kiz)" is the horrible resale value. It's the one on the left....the other two were "dumb-blondes". Great to look at, but no personality!
  10. We're weighing a bunch of options, that one just happens to be readily available near him (he's outside the lower 48). I'm really trying to avoid buying and shipping a case to him first, though I do have a line on a universal TKL explorer case locally. How do you all feel about shipping without a case by double-boxing it? From what I've read it sounds like that means: prep the guitar (depending on who you are, that's loosening the strings or not, and maybe a slice of bubble wrap between the strings and fretboard) newspaper around the guitar wrap it in bubble wrap box it surrounded by newspaper or more bubble wrap so that the guitar is immobilized in the inner box wrap THAT box in bubble wrap to immobilize it and then box it for shippingI'm sort of a guitar-shipping newbie, so I'm not really sure what's "enough". That's how I do it. Never ever had a problem.
  11. Just got mine! Haven't read it yet, but flipping through the pages I know it's going to be great. Definitely a labor of love by all involved. Thanks.
  12. Hopefully, I won't be on my death-bed and realize I could have seven or eight minutes more if I'd not clicked on the video above.
  13. While I take your meaning, that's some choice wording right there. Yup, I'm the hydrant on this one.......
  14. I'm buying a set of these for my next project. I love Zen's right hand. So many guys can play the notes, but the right hand is what separates the men from the boys. Fantastic.
  15. I checked "no" for the poll. I've been playing the same stuff for the past 30 years. I guess I've improved along the way, but only in the execution of the same stuff I've been playing for 30 years, if that makes sense. No new scales. No new thinking about what to play. Me and the guys are learning new stuff, but it's not any more challenging. The list grows, but I don't really think I've made strides in technique or creativity. I'm not sure it bothers me. I can still turn heads in the local music store noodling around. But it's because they haven't heard me play the same shit I always play. Good poll question.
  16. New board! Everything I need including the amplifier on the board......
  17. My buddy Jimmy used to have a shop close to my house. He used to go down to Dean in Tampa and Elliot would let him cherry pick from the Czech models. I had a couple of EVO Les Paul-style bursts that were simply the best value for the best guitar I can remember. I think they were about $900 new. The bodies were one piece thicker than a Paul mahogany with incredibly thick carved maple tops. I think the necks were one piece too. Jumbo frets and set up really well from the Czech factory. I seem to remember Ben Chafin saying that they (Dean) should have been selling them for much more. They were so cheap, people stayed away. Sold one back to Jim and the other one is in the clutches of my cousin. I'm on the hunt for one, but it's been a long time since I've seen a really good unmolsted one. The Vees were killer too.
  18. She Knows the Devil by Toto.......
  19. Monthly bump to the top..........still for sale.
  20. I'll just go with Aqualung. Fantastic.
  21. And it resides happily here in Florida! Thanks, Bubs.
  22. You mean like this... http://s120.photobucket.com/user/rauschenberger21/media/CHANDLERFRONTBODY.jpg.html'> http://s120.photobucket.com/user/rauschenberger21/media/CHANDLERFULLFRONT.jpg.html'> http://s120.photobucket.com/user/rauschenberger21/media/CHANDLERKORINABODY.jpg.html'> http://s120.photobucket.com/user/rauschenberger21/media/CHANDLERMAGAZINEBODY.jpg.html'> http://s120.photobucket.com/user/rauschenberger21/media/CHANDLERMAGAZINECOVER.jpg.html'> One of three reviewed in Guitar Player. It popped up on eBay. Korina body with little candy red sparkles in the back. Seymour wound the pickups on a manual winder. It's the only one.
