soli'd Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Rick Kelly is somewhat of a legend in the NYC guitar world. This is his shop. He's primarily known for making teles out of really old reclaimed lumber from historic NYC buildings that were torn down or renovated. Big name clientele.

Steve Haynie Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Bill Kirchen plays one of his guitars. That is enough of an endorsement for me.
shankyboy Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Saw the documentary a couple of months ago. Cool guitars.
cmatthes Posted May 18, 2025 Posted May 18, 2025 Cindy Hulej does a great podcast with Tom Beaujour and Dave Hill (AxeLords). LLC
burningyen Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 The shop was walking distance from my old place in NYC, so I've stopped by several times. The Kelly guitars are super vibey and feel very much handmade. The three that I tried were also all featherweight, with fat D necks. Cool, but ultimately not for me.
bruce919 Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 I think there was a review of one in Vintage Guitar a year or so ago.
