I dunno if this is old news or even newsworthy, but during the last few weeks as I attempted to buy ‘just a (G&G) Strat/tele case’  I discovered that G&G no longer has an active online store, and further digging revealed they stopped selling consumer direct during Feb. 2025.

The Fender.com site shows all G&G cases to be sold out. I’ve also read that Fender stopped shipping out most new guitars in the G&G cases, and that G&G may be restructuring.

LUCKILY, through Reverb I discovered that a local store had at least one ‘black over black’ in stock and I grabbed it yesterday (local pickup only). It’s a Fender branded G&G with only the small Fender tag behind the handle, and not the big chrome amp logo on the side that will break in a week. The case had a Fender tag dating it to 2023, hell, even the G&G badge in the case interior is dated 2023!

Their website still shows them to be in stock, but the salesperson told me it was their last one. Still worth a call if you’re shopping.

ETA: my case was a bit dusty but now looks like new after a wipe of the ol’ 409.

I hope so. I have a Charvel project upcoming and this will do the trick nicely.

Since you're going by there... if you think of it, take a look at this if you have a minute. The front and back shots make it look nice, the one that shows the top and side make it look kinda grimy. https://www.bananas.com/collections/pre-owned/products/rivera-clubster-royale-50w-1x12-combo-guitar-tube-amp-pre-owned

I kinda want it. Really don't need it. Don't know how long it's been there, but I've been looking at it for a couple months at least.

It's supposed to have a footswitch too, but they don't mention it.

Welp, apparently my indignation is not so righteous. Got an email from their webguy and said that the cases are on preorder and that it should be here in a week. I'm glad the deal is going through, but I swear, "pre-order", was not on the webpage.

I'll remain skeptical until I'm on the road to San Rafael...

I'm still a fan of the Canadian-made TKL cases, I got some used TKL 'Premier'-model cases back before The Pandemic and before shipping became so eye-gougingly expensive, they still serve me well and they don't scream 'Fender' at thieves looking for a five-finger discount:

Premier™ Rectangular Universal Electric Guitar Hardshell Case - TKL

TKL also does an 'End-Bound' case that is similar to a G&G, which is also about as expensive, too:

LTD™ Universal Strat® Style Hardshell Guitar Case - TKL

Of course, they also make cases for different guitars and instruments, too...LPs, Jazzmasters, etc:

When were they made in Canada?  The TKL headquarters and factory are in Oilville, VA less than 10 miles from my house.  I've been here about 10 years and I didn't even know until one day I was out driving around backroads exploring and drove right by it.

I honestly don't know the time frame, AFAIK TKL made cases simultaneously at times in Canada and the US, most of my cases are about ten~fifteen years old and most have 'Made In Canada' along with the TKL logo embossed on the (real!) leather case pocket pull tab.  I've also seen older (80's) cases with a plastic pocket pull tab with just 'Made In Canada' molded on the tab that appeared to me to be identical to TKL cases otherwise, including Gibson and Hamer USA cases.

TKL have made cases in Canada since the 90s, if not mid-to-late 80s.

My '91 Gibson TKL case was made in Canada.

My 2019 Gibson TKL case was made in China. Interestingly, there are several threads comparing the contemporary Chinese cases with the domestically-made versions with the consensus being the Chinese cases are of superior finish.

Correct. We used to send all the case plugs to Canada.

Interesting.  I wonder how long they've been in Oilville, VA.  Sounds like now they make some cases in China.  I wonder if they make them in Canada still too.
