cornjulio Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 (edited) So a friend of mine is seling a Hamer Special in red. Someone gets in touch who has a couple of 80s Specials himself. Turns out he's someone I sold a b&w Hamer Special to a couple of years ago. And then I find out he recenlty bought a 1980 Hamer Special in opaque blue with a MATCHING HEADSTOCK from the first owner. I tell him to get get in touch should he ever consider selling it. Guess what, now it's mine. It wasn't cheap but it is in great condition, has had a fret dressing, has a nice medium neck, plays and sounds great. I believe the paint is all original, no undercoat, no other paint in the control cavity or under the trussrod cover). The body contour is slightly different to my 1981 Hamer Special, the lower cutaway less pronounced, so cool, I love it! Edited November 23, 2025 by cornjulio 29 1 Quote

cmatthes Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Just out of curiosity, what's the serial? I know if two other opaque blue ones like that, and one is owned by a member here. Wondering if they were all in the same batch? 1 1 Quote

That would be cool, if there was a trio of them. i think I saw a Hamer Blitz bass on German Kleinanzeigen in the same colour but that's about it. 3 Quote
bsteff666 Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 That is very cool. Feel free to post more pics. I don’t think anyone here would object. 1 Quote
cornjulio Posted November 24, 2025 Author Posted November 24, 2025 Some more pics... the blue isn't entirely apoque you can see bits of the wood grain. The strap locks are not original I think. Fun guitar! 13 Quote
Spinaltap Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 I'm not usually crazy about matching colored headstocks, but that looks great. 3 Quote
cmatthes Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 I think the owner of 0 2112 has one that's pretty close! 4 Quote

Kerry Marchman Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 i owned an '80 that was blue, but didn't have the matching headstock. OP's is too cool! The one I had sounded killer though. It had yellowed to a greenish blue, and didn't look nearly as cool as Cornjulio's. 4 Quote
