Camstone Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 My ex-wife found this picture and sent it to me. Circa 1981. The "Tim Nickle Band". Tim (the guy on the left with his hand on his head) was a songwriter and formed this band to record an album. We never did a single gig. This image was taken in the recording studio in Seattle. There was one song on the album that I wrote, which got a fair amount of airplay on one of the Seattle radio stations and it made Tim so angry that he broke up the band. I am in the middle, holding my Gibson 1980 Heritage Standard, which was a sweet guitar. Wish I still had it. In 1981, I was 23 years old. Ha! 13 1 Quote
specialk Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 Nice pic, maybe you could Photoshop a brick wall behind you, 😁 1 12 Quote
Willie G. Moseley Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 Interesting to see what Dennis DeYoung was up to back then (between you and Nickle, wearing the vest/flak jacket) Wouldn't think he could sublimate his own name to play in a combo with someone else's moniker... 10 Quote

Steve Haynie Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 So the guy who is the namesake of the band has a song on the radio under the band name, and he complains? He should have been stoking that fire instead of putting it out. 6 1 Quote

Jimbilly Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 I had begun to appreciate FM Seattle rock radio by that time, I bet I heard it. KZOK or KISW?, - KXRX didn't start until a couple of years later? Quote
tommyh Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 Sorry @Camstone, don't mean to hijack your thread but couldn't resist. I think it may have actually been 1980 (?) but close enough. First gig of 'Troy Tempest & The Stingrays' in student union bar. That's me on the right, aged 21, leather trousers, afro and '74 hardtail strat. Still good friends with the bass player & drummer and we still play together...occasionally. 4 Quote
Dutchman Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 (edited) I had to jump in too! Getting ready for another show. Band and FOH guy. I'm programming the lights! Nova packs. So had to be around 1983. Edited December 20, 2025 by Dutchman 5 Quote
Camstone Posted December 21, 2025 Author Posted December 21, 2025 Here's another. This one is from 1980. The band was "Gardian" and this picture was on stage at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. I have the white shirt. 6 Quote
