rmahurin Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270025623036How much does a Stradivari go for these days?I can remember the late 80s when speculators made old Ferrari prices soar. They all lost their asses by about 1992.
tmuka Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 whoa! those guitars must be magical, right? must be MUCH better than the new ones i've played in the local GC sure is a pretty burst
cordroad Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 I'm sorry...approaching a quarter million dollars for a guitar?Fukk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr Fuzzy Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Gear is insignificant. Creativity is king I am drunk
LordOfTheThighs Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 I hope the belly-button lint / fungus / toe-jam / dingleberry stuff stays with the guitar. That's really got to up the MOJO!
killerteddybear Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 It stikes me as odd that a guitar worth that much money is laying directly on the grass.
cswilder Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 It stikes me as odd that a guitar worth that much money is laying directly on the grass. Hell, when BCR Greg photographs them he lays them directly on concrete. Grass is soft.
kizanski Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Gear is insignificant.Creativity is king I am drunk I just laughed so hard I almost peed!
kurtsstuff Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Man...if it only had some EMG's innit....I'd throw a bid on it... hehe
mrhappy Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Kinda makes you wanna go back in time with a big wad of cash!!!
kanegon Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Question teacher:Looks like a REFRET, no? When did Gibson start binding over the fret ends (whatever it's called...)?
santellavision Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 For $225,000. I could pay a luthier $75,000. to build me a replica that would fool the experts. And then I'd still pocket $150,000. profit. Kinda' scary to buy anything that expensive.
BCR Greg Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 It stikes me as odd that a guitar worth that much money is laying directly on the grass. Hell, when BCR Greg photographs them he lays them directly on concrete. Grass is soft. Bullshit.

Hell, when BCR Greg photographs them he lays them directly on concrete. Grass is soft. Bullshit. That is a replica pick of Greg taking a pic. An authentic Greg pic would not have a shadow of the photographer falling on the subject. noonan
BCR Greg Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Actually, the guitar was in the sun for 30 seconds, and I snapped several frames as quickly as possible before we whisked it back inside. Those early sunburst finishes fade if you tlak loud around them!!!Yeah, I am pissed about the shadow, but the shot is too good otherwise.
rmahurin Posted September 10, 2006 Author Posted September 10, 2006 It's all relative I suppose. If a rapper can blow that kind of coin on a blingy Bentley. a "real" `59 burst for a well-monied rocker who can write it off should be a no-brainer.
Steve Haynie Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Why were the tuners taken off for a photo?
kizanski Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Why were the tuners taken off for a photo? To show you that it had never been modded to have Grovers and the like installed or had any splits down the neck.
Guest galejt Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 This thread had better potential asBEHOLD THE POWER OF OLD WOOD!

Is this really laying on the asphalt or do you have some sort of pad you lay guitars on to take your pictures? ~stokesdead
mattb Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 "Is this really laying on the asphalt or do you have some sort of pad you lay guitars on to take your pictures?~stokesdead "If you look at the pic there is a pad under the guitar.
BCR Greg Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 The original tuners are in the original case. They had the dreaded "shrunken button disease"... Later tuners with the disease.
