BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 OK, it's 4 AM, the latest post ever after a 4-3-2-1 jam. I've kicked out the last of the revelers and sent the houseguests to bed. The cleaning crew is exhausted and I'm headed to bed. We rocked from 7:00 - 2:30. Amazing music all night long.... Here's a tease...Carmie started the party off in style. Anyone recognize the guitar? I'm off to bed. More photos in the morning.......
JohnnyThunders Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I had a guitar just like that one, I ether got it from or sold it to DavidE and BadgerDave, it was a real good one but I prefer solid white.
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 I had a guitar just like that one, I ether got it from or sold it to DavidE and BadgerDave, it was a real good one but I prefer solid white.Good morning poison squirrells! Not Bruce here, posting for the last time and getting ready to leave mnpls.Correct Boy Wonder! This is the axe you sold to BadgerDave and it's really, really cool. B-bye
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 I had a guitar just like that one, I ether got it from or sold it to DavidE and BadgerDave, it was a real good one but I prefer solid white. Correct! BadgerDave made the drive for this show. Always good to see Dave in the house, and of course he ALWAYS brings the coolest guitars. Here's Joe and Dave before the music started. Joe wins the happy award for the night. Here he is projecting rainbows onto the wall with his aura. Is there something you're not telling us, Joe? And Robb kicked off the evening on drums. Zoner strikes a pose early with Dave's other cool guitar, My Pink Gretsch. (not)
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Hey Bruce, wake up, we want more pics!!!!!! I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee. Almost time for my nap, but I'll post a few photos first... It was a spirited contest, but the Biggest Diva award goes to Kim, by virtue of her birthday. Look at the size of that cake! Oh, and speaking of happy, Caddie makes his 4-3-2-1 Club debut by rocking the free world. It was great to meet you Eric, and good to hang out for a few days. The boys rock out. Upon hearing the results of the "Biggest Diva" contest winner, BruceM strikes a lame, angry pose. KSFM, indeed! George, one of two bass machines in attendance last night, maintains the groove. About 3:00, George said to me, "I played a LOT last night. I wanted to keep playing, but I just hit the wall." There were lots of musicians in attendance, and I think everyone got their two hours on stage. We had to set some kind of record for stamina last night, and I had to FORCE them to quit playing at 2:30.
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Todd puts in another spirited performance, and newcomer John H tries out the bass rig. Robb seems to have discovered the camera. Here's the view from the stage.
DavidE Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I had a guitar just like that one, I ether got it from or sold it to DavidE and BadgerDave, it was a real good one but I prefer solid white. You got it from me.
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Oh man! I would have put a HURTIN' on that cake! It's not too late. I've got half of it left. Here's George, posing with a piece of cake. And here's Jimmy Johnson, fueling up at the cake station. And back to the action. Here's Jimmy, with some cake in him, being harassed by the maintenance crew. Bouncer!
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Half the fun of these parties is being a backup singer in the band. Here's some backup singer poses: Carmie's actually been practicing her singing, and brought some serious harmony all night long. Kim's got some serious pipes. We've got to learn some angry diva country tunes so she'll let it all out. This was during the Monkees medley that closed the party, about 2:15 or so. The guy on bass, Ted, was another 4-3-2-1 Club newbie, and the other bass machine in the house.
BTMN Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 You guys always have a great time. Looks like this one was another one.
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Vertigo, anyone? Chad & Kim belt it out. Here's a rare photo of Bloozguy in action, rocking the rhythm.
BruceM Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Here's Bill W in action. This man knows how to handle a pink guitar...always good to see Bill, and he brings some serious zep riffs. I miss Eric Weston.
earachemyeye Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 While I'm proud to win my 2nd happy award, the strange phenomena caught on film can't possibly be emanating from me. I had obviously consumed too much Belgian ale to pull something like that off. However, in the previous pic there was someone to the left of me who could be the true source of this odd pulsating spectral weirdness arcing over my drunken skull....BADGERDAVE!! What ARE you up to Dave? Those are the same damn colors that are on Jeff Gordons car aren't they? I'll never join you and Jeff! NEVER! Another fantastic jam Bruce. After attending these for 3 or 4 years now I'm still amazed the next day at how utterly cool they are. It's the people that attend for sure but it starts with the host, the man, Bruce. There was so much kicka## talent there last night, maybe you should start charging a small cover . Also thanks so much for allowing me to bring my rig over and tinker with it while we jam . It's right where I want it now tonewise. Really good to see everybody again from all parts and meet some new folks. If your not hooked now, you will be. Joe
gfc55 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Well, Carmie and I are exhausted but happy. We got home a couple of hours ago, so now we have to work on recovering from having waaaay to much fun with Bruce & friends. We went up on Thursday so we could attend the fabulous show by the Famous Volcanoes, and we did not get to bed before 2am on any of the days we were in Minneapolis. I haven't done that in a long tome, and I'm really sleepy..... Looking forward to the next event. Maybe a double bill with the Famous Volcanoes in Chicago. Watch this space for more information
Eric Weston Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I miss Eric Weston. Yeah, looks like I missed a good one. The Firehouse needed me and the Unhinged boys to rawk out and my wallet needed a little ballast . I ALMOST drove by afterwards and it sounds like I should have!! You guys were going all nite (I was giving my guitars a wipedown this morning and had to call earachemyeye for a report )
JohnnyThunders Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I had a guitar just like that one, I ether got it from or sold it to DavidE and BadgerDave, it was a real good one but I prefer solid white. You got it from me.yep that's right got it from Davide sold it to BadgerDave....got it from Davide sold it to BadgerDave..... oh shit my memory is gone! Looks like fun was had by all!
BadgerDave Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 And I have no idea how either of you could have parted with it!An extremely cool guitar that was put through it's paces and admired by a group of great players Saturday night. I made one small modification by reversing the hot and ground connections on the bridge pickup 'cause I like the in phase double humbucker option better than the out-of-phase.I also brought the Line6 Bogner SpiderValve along, though there weren't many adventurous souls willing to plug in. It may have been the beer or the late hour, but when I eventually wandered up and played through it I thought it "could hang" with the 4321 cadre of tone generators.Big crowd of great old and new friends and some of the most talented players I've heard in a long time. Had McChris made the trip we might still be playing!Huge thanks to Bruce for making all of this happen. Anyone who hasn't participated is missing one of the things that makes this place truly special. Next time - go!
Caddie Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I was praying that the paparazzi would not get a hold of these photos. bbbbbBBBBBrrRRRuce.....who paid you off and how much did you get for releasing those? Hey Carmie! Thanks for the intro to that "I can't begin to pronounce or spell the name" beer from Beuggenheut, Belgium. Those boogenhooters really know how to brew beer! Sweet & fizzy.
ctrixie Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Better late than never - this was one hell of a weekend. Thank you Bruce for gathering us all together again, I had so much fun Great to meet Caddie and his friend Kevin, Rob, Todd, Paris, and to hang with the 'regulars' I do have to credit the introduction of 'Geezer Nap Time' as a big factor in my ability to stay up til 3am Almost every night. And tell Daveberg that had I known we'd be pulling Neil Young's "Out on the Weekend" from the the nether reaches of some lost back memory at 2:30, I would have come prepared! Kim is a doll, and what a voice. Twas an honor to celebrate her birthday. Love to all, Carmie
JohnnyThunders Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 And I have no idea how either of you could have parted with it!Great guitar but the neck was a little big and the graphic cause random seizures when I was playing. I do like my other 4 and won't be selling them.
baddguitar Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Thanks to you Bruce and all the HFC folks that came to the 4-3-2-1. I appreciate your hospitality and you made this newbie feel welcome. I had a great time!Best Regards,Kevin Dowell
