Acoustic Axis, anybody? Indoor Storm?

I have seen some new Hamers up for auction on EBay from a dealer in Alexandria VA, which I have Googled to be AccousticAxis (sp?). Is there an Accoustic Axis shop owner on board here? Anybody ever go the shop in person? I get to DC once a year and maybe could swing by if theres a decent inventory.

Also, just wondering what the Kaman folks think about a storeowner selling through the internet like that? Maybe Kaman/Joel is not as nutty as Gibson in preventing such merchandising. But the auction prices start low and there aren't many bidders so I haven't seen many sales. Nice long return policy, though, which I guess somebody would want when shellinh out $2K for a new guitar

While I am at it, I Googled the Monaco Elite and found some photos at Indoor Storm, but the guitars were mostly sold. Is this a good dealer? Anybody on board from Indoor Storm?

Just curious. Not intending to advertise or promote or hurt BCR Greg's biz.

Indoor Storm is my store of choice. They are a Hamer dealer, but usually have only one or two in stock. They can order whatever you want and I know they did a recent Custom Shop order that took three months. They have an import Echotone and a USA Mahog Elite in stock right now. The Elite is sweet btw, a tobacco burst color. If you want to talk to them, ask for Eddie Berman. He's extremely knowledgeable, plus he's the best sales guy I've ever dealt with. He often goes out of his way. He just came through for me on a warranty issue with a case. That's right, a case! Eddie is the man.

I have experience with both dealers. I bought a Mon III from Acoustic Axis that Steve was listing on eBay. I live in Raleigh and regularly go to Indoor Storm and check out stuff. They have a great high-end amp selection (Fuchs!), but relatively few Hamers, mostly Elites, IIRC. Eddie is a great guy and always willing to help.

FWIW, I would recommend both dealers.

Cajun Boy got a bad ass trans red hardtail ash/rosewood G&L Legacy from Indoor Storm and from what I remember, he said it was a very pleasant experience working with them.

Not sure if you're local to DC or not - I've been in Alexandria Music/Acoustic Axis and they do have some Hamers in stock - some nice ones too (Art Ult). Steve from AA used to post here a few years ago, but I haven't seen him around here for a long time.

If you're in the area, I'd recommend checking in with Elduave from this board at Rocketeria Music in Rockville, MD - a few minutes away from Alexandria (well, unless you go during Rush Hour!).

I got my Newport at Acoustic Axis. Good folks at the store - decent selection but not huge. Most of the store seems to be devoted to pianos if I remember correctly.

Only thing that ticks me off about acoustic axis is that they really don't keep their web page up. Bummer. I used to like sufing their site.

I bought my Budda Verbmaster from Steve at Acoustic Axis. It was a good deal for the amp, but he seemed to take his time when it came time to ship.

Maybe it was the pressure of opening a new store or the fact he wasn't making much money on my custom order but Steve at AA became increasingly difficult to deal with. He was dropping F bombs by the time our deal was over. He owuld tell me to call him for status on the order then forget to call Hamer...that happened several times. I got the best deal/lowest price going through them based on conversations with others on their custom order prices, if price is all you care about. Next time I'll pay extra$ for quality service instead of letting price dictate my decision. For the record, the guitar did arrive as ordered and in timely fashion after all was said and done.

Daniel le Rouge (Dan Stohr) from AA used to frequent the board.

I bought a Monaco Elite from him before he came to the board, an off ebay transaction. I got a good deal on the guitar and the transaction was pain free. I was new to the board at the tiime.

He left the board with an open letter thread that was right out of drama queen city. It seems he got caught up in a few political flame wars and couldn't stand the heat. I found that to be unforunate since he really wasn't a bad guy and I was the one who invited him over.

Sorry for the tangent, The bottom line, no problem with AA or IndoorStorm.

I won an auction for a Hamer Special Jr. Korina about three weeks ago. I'm still waiting. Acoustic Axis is not very good about responding to emails or following up with customers. I finally talked to Steve on Saturday and he told me they sold a bunch of guitars on ebay but didn't have all the product from Hamer. He told me my guitar would ship this Wednesday - 3 weeks after the auction ended and I paid.

I just wish someone would have been upfront and told me that right away.

Eddie Berman at Indoor Storm is as good as it gets. Deal with confidence, I've bought several pieces from him. He listens to what you're looking for and is extremely knowledgeable with no attitude...

This type of situation is what neutral/negative feedback is meant for.

Hardheartedbill, it sounds like Budman was saying that (assuming there was a photo in the Ebay ad) that the guitar put up for auction was not even in the hands of the retatiler. $2000 guitars are not fungible (like bushels of wheat). If I bought a guitar and it was not the same as portrayed in a photo - - i.e., it was not a "painted" guitar rather one with flames or wood grain showiing through a transparent surface - - I would go through the roof. If that's the way Budman was treated I will now avoid that dealer. Thanks for the input. If I were Hamer, I would be disappointed to have somebody like that as a dealer.

If you look at AA's feedback - and it's all positive, with one neutral exception - a very large portion are along the lines of 'great guitar, took forever to ship'.

Negative retribution-avoidance, looks like to me.

Like I said on my custom order form Acoustic Axis...great guitar, great price, terrible customer service. They won't rip you off, they just have poor followup. If you want the best price, they're hard to beat. If you want a "warm fuzzy" relationship with your dealer, look elsewhere.

Sounds like AA is good at customer mollification, if not customer service. No way I would give them positive feedback for a delayed delivery.

I wanted to add to this thead for some time but I have been waitng until I got my refund before posting. Let me just say that I will NEVER deal w/ Acoustic Axis again. They lied to me for two months; first about the guitar I ordered and then about my refund. I would not trust them at all.

Here's a quick summary:

Guitar up for auction on ebay was not the guitar I got. As a matter of fact, they didn't even have the guitar from Hamer for over three weeks after I paid. The whole time Will Helms lied and kept telling me it would ship in a few days!

When the guitar arrived it was the worse looking piece of korina I ever saw. It looked NOTHING like the ebay add.

I returned the guitar and it took a month to get my refund. The entire month I was lied to by Will Helms and Adele McGee.

I was patient and courteous through the entire transaction and see no reason why I was treated this way other than that's the way they do business.

Bottom line, there are other reputable Hamer dealers so save yourself a lot of aggravation.

Yup, Eddie is certainly on a very short list titled "Best guitar salesmen". What made the experience on the G&L even better was that they were doing 50% off deals at the time. Making minimum profit with maximum customer service. I would not hesitate for a second to buy from them.
