It looks like we're getting closer to crying out loud "Hamer is dead. Long live Hamer!" :)

Yeah things were rather thin in the Kaman booth as far as Hamers are concerned. I never did make it to the Fender room. Perhaps there was more there.

NAMM as a whole seemed to generate a lot less stuff that interested me this year when compared to previous years. Other than the new stuff Suhr was showing (none of which I can afford :)), I was pretty bored by everything I've seen. Just as well given the current economic state we're in I suppose.

Okay, I couldn't see that they were imports.

But, if they were USA models would that be interesting?!!

I don't understand why crown are okay on imports but not USA models.

To anyone at the show- are any of the New Hartford made Guilds on display? If so, how do they look?

This was my 14th Winter NAMM.

The one thing that stood out (for me) was that there seemed to be a level of cooperation between dealers and manufacturers which I had not seen at previous NAMM shows.

The overall vibe seemed to be "hey the economy sucks, so what can we do together to get things happening again?"

That said, if you really look closely, there is always someone,. or something new just under the radar (and usually in Hall E...LOL).

For me, this year it was found in a small booth in Hall E and it was a guy named Joe with a company named Joe Co.

He has a single rack space 24 track 96khz recorder for under 2K. It has no drive. I has USB 2 ports and can record to basically any external 7200rpm USB2 drive.

You can even stack up to four of these.

Its a nice feeling knowing many of the HFC Hamer collections trump anything Hamer brought to NAMM this year.

Those carve top Suhr Moderns have me gassing bigtime. Anyone wanna buy a Koa John Petrucci :) ?

You can say that again brother!

Two that quickly come to mind is SirDouglas' f-hole GT Standard with one humbucker and one P90. Then there's Pirateflynn's Monaco...

Ouch, there are a few guitars floating around the boards that will go down as a true HFC Legend. The Pirates Newport is one of them.

Thanks Neil! It's good to finally see what when down in the Hamer booth.

No problem. I hope to send back a report from Musik Messe as well.

those asher lap steels look so cool!

Yeah, normally a lap steel would not catch my attention. These however really caught my eye. They looked great in person, though I never did get a chance to come back and give them a try.

I thought it was kind of boring too. The only thing that gave me a boner was this Dean Custom Shop Dime V

If that guitar were a woman, she would look like this:
