Always Broke Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Is anyone else as big as a sucker for these Black Beauty mashups? *drools* On the flip side, somehow I think doing that to a Monaco would just be kinda weird, haha
bubs_42 Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I've held out and passed on many guitars in the last couple weeks but this is going to finish me off.
BTMN Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Not a big fan of Black guitars but that is Classic looking. You would Have "The Look +1" with that. You KNOW it plays nice!
ArnieZ Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I think those were made for Russo Music in Trenton NJ. Was in the shop once or twice when I visited my brother-in-law. Pretty nice shop as I recall, larger # of Hamers in stock than most. My brother-in-law Picke up one of the 35- 36 Korina Artist Customs there.ArnieZ
zorrow Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 That's a Vector in a tuxedo. I guess Albert King would have loved that one.
edgar_allan_poe Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 For years I asked Hamer if they would make me a Black or White Korina Vector and they said "NO". When I saw the White Vector at NAMM a few years back, it completely sealed the deal for me as far as Hamer was concerned. I knew at that time that the answer wasn't "No", the answer was "Not for you because you aren't important enough.". I haven't bought a new Hamer since, and I doubt I ever will.I remember seeing Ted and Chris in the hallway outside and I went on a huge tirade...LOL!!!
cmatthes Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I remember that, Rob. That was right before we took our free white and black Hamer Vectors home from the test booth! Actually, I think the way to read a "No" is not "No, you're not important enough", but "Not at this time". I'm shooting from the hip here, but it may be a response that works best across the board for them. I'm still going to ask for an Electraglide, but have been getting the "No" response for almost 10 years now. The problem will probably be that when I DO get a "yes" reply, I won't be able to afford it! Arnie: That's right - Russo did the order on those "Black Beauties". They had one or two that didn't sell, and I believe those got recirculated to other dealers.
Devnor Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 That's a bucket list guitar for sure. Totally bad ass!

Truth be told I will probably be placing an order for a Duotone Custom sometime later this year, so take my anger with a grain of salt. LOL!!
velcro fly Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Sweet...but where would one get the required chrome hardware and how much would it cost ???? I've left at least 5 messages with the Hamer CS dept I was directed too without a response (going back over the last month), trying to find replacements for my current gold Vector harware... Killer guitar. Must resist too
cmatthes Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 The most difficult part to source would be the "V" tailpiece. I managed to find a gold one a few years ago for my '98 Vector, and I think the supplier may have also had chrome (nickel??) at the time - $40.00. The hardware is straight TonePros bridge and Tuners and the screws are easy enough to find (use the Gibson parts, if you can't find others. The Straplocks are Duncans, $12-$15 anywhere, and the pickups are also easily available. The ferrules may also be fairly easy to find, although they are a little different from the stock Tele parts. If you're swapping parts altogether, you could also add the pickups of your choice for a total package of a few hundred dollars. It would likely cost much more from Hamer directly, since they have to charge you the stock price for them.
Steve Haynie Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I would keep the gold because that Vector is patterned after a Les Paul Custom. If there were no block inlays on the fretboard the chrome would work.
Hamertoe Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I DIG IT! I'D WANT TO SHOUT ABOUT IT TOO IF IT WAS MINE. SOMEONE'S GONNA' GET A SWEET GUITAR!

ecnal Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I pushed the bid button a couple seconds too late with a higher bid.
