Mindseyes Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 has this ever been done?I would love to see pics...........I think I would love to try one out to be honest......lol
Sam Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 If you like soaps, there were at least two of these done :

Sam Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Here's more of that one : (it went to Wildwood in 2006) Here's the twin that went to Oz :
Mindseyes Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Oh man those are freaking sweet! Why don't we see more studio customs with wrap tails, itjust looks awesome!
bubs_42 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I thought the first one was the one from OZ. Thats the one I love, its has a great burst. Damn good looking Studio.
gorch Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 The BT head is a wonderful combination on those. Love it.
GaryT Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I've seen the humbucker Studios with a Compensated Bridge. I don't know that I've seen a order with a Studio Custom done that way?It would have to be a Custom Order no?I always felt these bridges caught a seriously unfair bad-rap. On a Studio I think they are the Bomb.
BubbaVO Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Wrap tail is my favorite. Those guitars are sweet.
esquared Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I am not a big p90 fan but that is so clean looking, wow.Could you imagine how sharp that would be with an ebony board!
sw686blue Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Beautiful guitar but I would have preferred a matching headstock.
burningyen Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I prefer the black maple headstock over the matching headstock. Very nice. Too bad Hamer doesn't use a compensated wraptail, though. I know intonation is for p-----s, but most of us are p-----s.
esquared Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I know this bridge is very clean looking but wouldnt it be better to use a wraptail that has individual string adjustments so that it can be intonated correctly? Or does eveyone just find them too busy and I am missing the looks over functionality on this piece?

burningyen Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 This is actually the idea I was referring to (from Faber):
BubbaVO Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 That's far more elegant than other solutions I've seen. But I saw this as well:NOTE: Intended to replace tailpieces with OFFSET stud inserts (i.e., '61 and earlier Gibson and reiusses with offset stud inserts). Are they compatible with mid-90s Studios?
burningyen Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 No idea. Someone here needs to be the guinea pig!
esquared Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I was thinking about this type of wraparound:
BadgerDave Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 No idea. Someone here needs to be the guinea pig!I volunteer!I Just ordered two stoptails and a "Tone-Lock" stud set. If my experience with these things is consistant, I should be threatening a lawsuit for non-delivery in about 45 days!I'll post when (and if) the parts arrive.

I opted to install an intonatable TonePros wraparound on my Studio, mainly for The Look⢠(the non-intonatable thing is more appropriate for a Junior type guitar IMO). Only issue with it is it has a very high profile; I have it screwed all the way down to the body, and the action is just right for me, but might be too high for most folks:
esquared Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Hey McChris... now thats what I am talking about!Great comment on the height factor, I had not thought about it, but especially with it positioned so far forward that makes it even more of an issue. Are there any other brands that have a lower profile? Or i guess if it was a factory order there could be routing to provide clearance... well now we are getting away from the clean look of it all??? I dont know.
