belgian Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Saw this cool one for sale at South Austin Music : Grab it, boys !
specialk Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 ¿Cuánto cuesta? If you gotta ask... Nice find, Conrad. I like it.
velorush Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 If you gotta ask... Nice find, Conrad. I like it. Feel free to mark it down: I definitely gotta ask! [No pretentiousness here!] Amazing what's hanging around, huh?
belgian Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Told the people there it would sell in week after posting this...
cynic Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Somebody's phone is going to be ringing off the hook this morning.
specialk Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 No kidding! A week was too generous, I think. I'm glad you asked, velorush. And, nice pics Conrad!
velorush Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 No kidding! A week was too generous, I think. I'm glad you asked, velorush. And, nice pics Conrad!Am I wrong in thinking that is actually quite inexpensive (for a four digit bass in what appears to be nice, age-appropriate condition)?
crunchee Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Wow! AND it has the OHSC! I have a '82 Blitz bass that looks nearly identical in specs except that it has a P/J pickup setup--this one is all J, plus gold hardware. Hmm, was the tagged price before or after you told them what it was?
bubs_42 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Saw this cool one for sale at South Austin Music : Grab it, boys ! South Austin Music is where I bought the 12 String Miller High Life for cheap money.
carfish7 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Why do we think that this such a steal? I mean, just because it has "4-digits" doesn't make it something highly desirable all on it's own does it? It is a far cry from a 4-digit Standard and plainer than other early basses I have seen, but I just don't get why this would fetch more than 1k?I know, "find another one" or somesuch, but I'm betting it hangs there for a while (unless the frenzy has already been created). Of course I do not now, and have never, understood the subtle machinations of the "guitar collector". If it had a stamped serial in the usual format, yawns all around I'm guessing.I'm sure it is a fine piece.Z
belgian Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Belgian, I owe you a beer - cheers! Did you snagged it ?

dgstandard Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I am pretty pumped! I made a fair offer and they jumped at it. Then I put my p-bass up for sale locally. The fellow said it is definately a player, 7.5/10 condition, some fret dimples on the first seven, clean after that, doesn't appear to be messed with and that it sounded great when he was playing it yesterday. Should be fun. Thanks again for the heads up! Didn't know 4-digit anything came up for under a thousand bucks...!
belgian Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 I told him that one would go fast, but he probably tought I was jokin.....
cmatthes Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Proof added to the old adage that it is better to ask for forgiveness than beg/wait for permission.Great score - congrats!
dgstandard Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks Serial! The fellow said it has a slight sparkly finish.
GusS Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 whats the difference between this and an 83 blitz bass as far as the shape and construction are concenred? Does it have a heel like a standard?
