.

Looks like all it needs is a few randomly placed "frankenstripes"...;)

I wonder if that's the original floyd...(the cover's obviously not)... Zoom-in on that nut installation...

Also, is that a small crack I see developing toward the head from the bottom hex screw on the back of the neck?

Anyone here take a chance on that kahlered purple refin blitz from a few weeks ago?

Early hockey stick Blitz, in the 10,000 they still had 3+3 headstocks.

Floyd-rose Hamers in 84 did tend to have the same spring cover as the Sustain-block trem, and so that is original.

The paint job looks off to me, and the logo placement is wrong. I can't see the serial number on the rear of the headstock either and there is thick paint in the recesses for the through the neck lock-nut bolts.

My opinion would be refinish, but original parts.

My bad... Seems like it's pretty rare you see one with a cover at all, anymore.

I take it back - probably original finish but terrible photographs.

Strange logo placement, still.

Placement of serial number looks photoshopped to me too. However, it might be the correct number. Otherwise it wouldn't scare me if not exact. Even if it had a neck brake, it looks darn nice for this type of guitar and age. If shipping to Europe wouldn't be half of the entry price for a Standard, I'd think of bidding for it. The other day I was searching for an idea for a pair of Phat Cats I found in the parts box. I'm sure my wife would ask questions.

I had an early 6-in-line headstock with the logo placement in the center of the headstock like that. It looks weird, but not necessarily wrong. I also had the same back cavity cover.

The serial isn't photoshopped. The metallic finishes are tough to photograph as it is, and I'm sure that's what contributes to the fuzziness. It would probably look much better in person.

I think it's legit.

Yes, but the serial number isn't in this photo:

Or am I just missing it?

Or am I just missing it?

I couldn't see it either, until you posted the above picture. I still can't see it well enough to make out, but depending on the angle I'm viewing my monitor I can see the very faint image of numerals below the 3rd and 4th tuners. I don't remember what the number was on the photo Kiz posted, but I'm seeing something like 411619???

That's weird!

Edited to add I just double checked the auction and see the description has the number, 411860. 3 outta 6 ain't bad for a number I can't even see at some angles :)

That's incredible! I've got a (somewhat) better digital monitor at home. I'll check it out there. I feel terrible for the seller if it's there and not visible on some monitors - leads to suspicion and suspicion leads to people moving along without a question.

Edited to add: nope, looked at home on the (better) digital monitor. I do see shadowing similar to what it would be if the metallic wasn't thoroughly mixed when that area was sprayed, but to say I see any indication of a serial number is like saying I see Mary in the grilled cheese.

My theory is in line with what Matthes said above: it's a metallic finish, which is hard to photograph.

Once the flash hits it, something like a faint serial number is not going to show. That's why the seller included a dark, grainy photo of the serial number section.

It's not your monitor.

Hey Hamer experts....

What's the difference in a Blitz and a Standard?

In advance, thanks!

Posted

This is covered in depth on the main page here (by Doc Large), but among others-heel is different, Blitz body is bevelled, Standards are thicker with bound tops, the headstock shapes differ (although the shot of the back of this one looks more like a Standard head), Blitz doesnt have a toggle switch cavity on the horn (all controls in the main cavity) etc...

blitz body is three piece, standard is one piece. and the early blitz's had 3+3 headstocks, similar to specials.
