DavidE Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 What about restraint on the photos of "members" when you first log on to www.hamerfanclub.com. I know I've seen at least one that some might find in poor taste. But I do find it funny that many members' photos show them playing something other than a Hamer...
Mike_C Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I think the huge Ads for peoples bands and businesses are more annoying than the ass girl. Why don't you people just put a link or a little logo. After we have all seen it 100 times it gets old. We already know who is in a band and who is a dealer. I have a young daughter also and if she sees the asses or the stupid robot humping I will just turn off the Avatars. I am a visitor here so I don't expect the rules to be changed to suit me thats up to the webmaster who is doing a good job and should be given credit for putting up with all the whining. Idon't think I oculd have siad things any bettter. Remember the Outer Ciricle was created for the non Hamer and more adult content. Lets tame down the avatars at very least get rid of the nudity.
LordOfTheThighs Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I find it humorous that a lot of ppl here are SO anti-censorship, BUT when THEY find something objectional, the censorship quickly fades to protecting innocent eyes. (I'm not refering to anyone imparticular) If you don't like the avatars, turn them off. OR don't frequent the board. If you don't like porn-sites, don't go there and then complain that it's offending you. If you don't like a KKK site, don't go there and then complain that it's offending you. This is the internet. You have a choice. You can always go to the SilverTone board For me personally, I don't see the need for the nudity. But I ain't gonna "censor" anybody. I learned here that if you have an opinion that isn't "cutting edge", or "Tolerant", your quickly labeled a "backwoods stone-age hate-monger". Yeah it's a Electric GUITAR board, which is hand - in - hand with Rock & Roll attitudes, so I can't say anyone should be suprised with seeing some hooters. ***Just One Man's Opinion***
black magic Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I want to see the Fat chick with the bog tits, anyone have that one? Thanks-Jack. P.S. I hate Censorship.
Buzzy Fretts Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I didn't notice anyone censoring anyone in this thread. At all. They seem to be just asking people to consider other folk's reality. I like the ability to see cool avatars and would personally hate having to turn em off just cause someone feels like pushing the envelope. i can deal with what we've seen so far, but its getting close to the edge. So today swinging ballons are cool and tommorrow.... what? We going to start seeing icons that make a gynocologist blush? The point was lets draw the line someplace where we can all have fun and still be able to read the threads in a semi-public place. And I agree.
DavidE Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I don't get the whole censorship thing. Nobody is censoring anybody. A few people asked if others would voluntarily clean up the avatars out of respect for the youngsters who might visit the board. I see it more as doing something out of respect for Hamer Guitars. Until Ted puts a big disclaimer on the front page that this is not a company sponsored or controlled site and that the contents do not have the approval of Hamer Guitars, I think that anything in the Hamer forum could be seen as a reflection on the company. I could be wrong.
cmatthes Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I think Buzzy is getting back to the original point. I don't think anybody here is necessarily in favor of "censorship", and quite frankly, that hasn't EVER been a problem on this board. I also don't think that I should have to worry about turning my avatar function on or off because of not knowing whether somebody's going to post a pic of some barnyard lovin' or something. This is also not a porn site, nor a porn appreciation site. I haven't seen anything pornographic (according to my definition) posted yet - not even on the Outer Circle, however I also am open-minded enough to realize that my threshold is quite probably higher than some and lower than some people's cut-off points.I don't have a problem with avatars on the whole, but try to remember that this board isn't here for just YOU (speaking to the collective, not an individual "you"); try to respect others in the community, that's all I see being asked.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 How the hell do I get to the Outer Circle so I can see the ass chick again?
formula73 Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I don't mind the ass girl one bit. Amen, brother! I'm thinking about starting a petition to bring her back.
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I want to see the Fat chick with the bog tits, anyone have that one? What the hell are "bog tits"?
Smakutus Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I want to see the Fat chick with the bog tits, anyone have that one? What the hell are "bog tits"? He meant your butt.. out.. Jeff.
Guest cruster Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Look, I got rid of jumprope girl because someone specifically mentioned her as being offensive. I don't have a problem with that. Much. I mean, you couldn't see anything other than the tops of a pair of big flapping pancake b00bies. Not even nipplage. I didn't think it was worse than anything anyone might see on, oh, I don't know, MTV or VH1. Or The Man Show. Or...whatever. But, someone asked, so I complied. What about the profanity, though? I know there are posts and even a sig that drop the F-bomb. Should we ask for those to be removed? Or maybe we can get Ted to turn on the profanity filter so it replaces all of the ******* bad words with those ******* asterisks. Really, it looks like the 'offensive' avatars are gone. Cool. Can't we all get along now? No? You want offensive? How about this....I'm thinking of buying a Jackson SL2H in mahogany! There! I said it! HAHAHHA! Actually, someone offer me a Cali Elite so I can keep the herd pure. K?
MCChris Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I'm cancelling the Playmates for MWJV. Blame Badger. My business logo stays though. There's only so much I'll do to kow tow to the weenies around here.
cmatthes Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Chris: I don't know...the Muse Cafe logo seems to depict a woman in a position of servitude and you know how upsetting that can be. Some may also find the mask placement a little too kinky for their tastes.
Guest cruster Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Actually, it's the lute that I find offensive.
HamerHokie Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Chris:I don't know...the Muse Cafe logo seems to depict a woman in a position of servitude and you know how upsetting that can be. Some may also find the mask placement a little too kinky for their tastes. That's nothing. Avatars/pics in this thread alone depict animal cruelty, nuclear proliferation, arson, second rate filmmakers, sci-fi fornication, elective cosmetic surgery, and creepy football mascots, all of which offend me to the core.

Not to mention a simulated mooning in the avatar used by this thread's originator! LOL

I just thought that if it popped up while the boss or the wife or junior was standing behind me, they might get the wrong impression about the Hamer board in general. I actually got a kick out of jumprope girl.
cmatthes Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 As long as there are no clowns I'm cool with it. Clowns creep me out.
HamerHokie Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Creepy football mascots keep me from sleeping.
