captjc Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I just received a cashiers check today from Roshark for my beautiful Artist mahogany. It just makes me think how cool it is that two guys with similar interests, but geographically separated, can make something happen.I wish other things in this world could happen with the same element of trust. This world would be a better place!
JohnnyB Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I wish other things in this world could happen with the same element of trust. This world would be a better place!Well, yeah, but at least it's better here. You can bask in the joy that such trust exists in little pockets around the world, and even on the Internet.
Disturber Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 The HFC has always been a great place to buy & sell gear. Only on a handful occasions have I seen posts when people have been in disagreement.I've done great ebay deals WW too.Recently I bought a CD from Amazon UK that was out of print. It was really expensive from most sellers, but this seller had it for only 12 bucks. But it never arrived.I complained and the guy gave me a full re-fund. Then the CD arrived last week. I mailed him and told him I want make it right and pay for it again. He was very happy I did so.Was I stupid for not ripping him off? I don't feel stupid, if feel kinda good about the fact that settled my score.

Not to make it about you, because what you did was not about you, but about the other person (which is the point)...I believe what goes around comes around.
polara Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Ages ago I bought a Blitz from Wyldbill (RIP.) Drove all the way to Knoxville to the Barnes & Noble where he worked. Came out, and I had forgotten my damn checkbook. He said "No problem, take it home and just mail me a check later." That is pretty standard procedure around the HFC. I PIF'd it when HFCer Siap, in Lithuania, desperately wanted a certain white Standard. I was headed to Sweden in three weeks and had kinda wanted to go to Vilnius anyway so I told him I'd haul it over and deliver it to him. We hung out, had a few beers, saw Vilnius.Trust rewarded is good stuff, innit?
Feynman Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I dunno - JeffR bought an amp from someone here, and it arrived all busted up. Apparently the seller had kicked it just out of spite.
Caddie Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I think I hear "Kumbaya HFC" humming softly in the background.

hamerhead Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 .......said the man who apparently forgot Poe's ass.

tommy p Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 This is a great place, full of great people. It saddens me when I hear people brag about the opposite action than the one Disturber took. The refund is received, then the item arrives, and they jump for joy that they "got over".

But in this case I bought from a small dealer who sells through Amazon. Amazon probably takes out a hefty charge so I don't think it's that rewardig for the small guy, (but I could be wrong). It felt better for me to know I had done right by this small shop. Anyone who still sells physical CDs today, or vinyl, deserves my support. I love the physical product of a good album. I don't like to stream music through my manly and expensive high fidelity stereo system. Im just to hip about it, so hip I'm old school.
