serial Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Jay did such great stuff with my SG and the Ultimate/Baker Inferno. I've gotta think up something for him to do...
bubs_42 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Better get on it and get in line. I wish I could justify this SG I found, it smokes now but I have a feeling it would burn the house down after a trip to Nashville.
cmatthes Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Jay did such great stuff with my SG and the Ultimate/Baker Inferno. I've gotta think up something for him to do...I'm sure that won't be too difficult to work out!Jay's da best.
zorrow Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Hey! My pickguard arrived and it's already installed. Jay did a remarkable job. Thank you, man. U ROCK! Now will have to wait to this afternoon to get some pics of the guitar... and tomorrow night she'll be rocking some Santana and also having its ska & reggae baptism of fire. Can't wait!
svl Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Getting another project ready to send down to the Master. Watching these incredible bench report threads of Jay's really sparks the creativity...
RichRS6 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Oh oh, more Kahlers on mint 78 Hamers coming up...........
svl Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Yep. The Phantom doubleneck six side is getting the Kahler, though she isn't a '78 she's an '82. Though she's a considerably rarer axe than most '78s. Never did Kahler a '78, nor a mint Hamer of any sort. 'Til now....
RichRS6 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Howls of tormented anguish..........................
svl Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Hey, she's for sale, so someone could "save" her at anytime until I pull the trigger. I'm trying to figure out what graphic paint job I want on her anyway, so although the clock is ticking there's still time to save the "damsel in distress".Step up, curators...
svl Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Look at the bright side, Chris. This way Steve could get that '82 Sustainblock he needs.Hmmmm, parting it out. Now where oh where did I just read an article on that very subject? The 'Block from the six neck, a set of the PUPs (have to put WCR Godwood and Crossroads in the six side, I have been smitten), since I'm "anti-curating" might as well replace and sell the tuners, strap buttons, back plate.... this could actually be a great idea. All that would help pay for the cost of the mods. Thanks for the idear, fellas!
RichRS6 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I think the doubleneck would look great with a zebra stripe finish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
svl Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I think the doubleneck would look great with a zebra stripe finish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Hmmm, I was thinking engraved steel metal top ala Zemaitis over a copper metal flake finish. What, you mean the guitar is worth more than the lowballs I keep hearing it's worth (at least here- on eBay of all places I had two actually decent offers close to my asking price but am not in a hurry to sell so I politely declined. )? If I went by what I've been told here I'd have to think Peter got the better of me, since I'm asking less than what I paid just 18 months ago, and it's a pretty rare axe...

It is a rare bird in what appears to be amazing original condition. It's clear to me that Kahler fans are in the minority around here, so if you want to sell it afterwards, you are reducing the market to those that like Kahlers or expect a low-ball deal because it is non-original.
Steve Haynie Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I think the doubleneck would look great with a zebra stripe finish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,No. It would look great stripped down to bare wood and given an oil finish.
