Guest gearwhore Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Didn't say it was worth $7k to anybody but the seller. But the idea here is that if you restored it, it would likely be worth even less to a collector.Repairing Jimi's fired up Strat from Monterey? Not worth what the char-broiled original condition is.Look at that nice early Standard someone on here had restored and was trying to sell not long ago- I believe asking price was what they paid Hamer to do the restoration, but I don't believe it sold. And it was a beautiful guitar. Worth the price to the cat who restored it, but not so much to buyers here.I may be wrong but I thought the reworked standard did sell.not as few weeks ago when he was offering it too me in a trade we talked about....we were close...as far as I know he still has it and still interested in my 62 les paul..Which murkat has at the moment....the refin may devalued it for you...but I would own it before 0077 comparing apples to apples...or standard to standard.I was hot for the standard...And given some time I am still considering it. So here I am a buyer with the ability to swim in this pool...but I dont see the value in 0077..not any where near what its at.and the martin that owns 0002 and 0077 NOW is not martin barreTo be clear, I don't think that 0077 is worth much of anything in that condition. I was only commenting on the possible historical value, which apparently doesn't exist. As to the refin'ed Standard, I would snag that over 77 in a heartbeat, though again not at it's asking price.I think its almost worthless like that...i really been thinking about #0525 i look at the pics every couple days..I agree i see way more value in 0525 than 0077
mc2 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I own #0071 and it looks a hell of a lot better then #0077....
Disturber Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 WTF! That thing is scared. But it still looks cool as hell. I WANT IT. Don't have the cash for it though....
RichRS6 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I own #0071 and it looks a hell of a lot better then #0077....Wow thats just superb.Where have you been hiding that.
mc2 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I own #0071 and it looks a hell of a lot better then #0077.... Wow thats just superb.Where have you been hiding that. The original owner is a longtime close friend of 35+ years. He actually brought this one and another early Standard to play on one track on my first album, back when these were practically new. I bought it from him around 10 years back, when he needed money for his software company he started. He cashed the check but I let him hang onto the axe, cuz we're buds. It's mine whenever I want to pick it up but it's like one of his kids, so I'm in no hurry. He loaned me some of my old photo gear back for a decade or so.....that I'd sold him when I needed money. So we have that sort of relationship. Good friends are harder to find than good guitars.

It may be reworked but it's the best looking 4 digit out there.
