a.bandini Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Looks like it has been through a relationship or two. Haven't I heard of this? Link.
RichRS6 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Hmmmm....I thought I had already struck a deal with Martin for this one.
Andrew Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 With that level of damage it should be under a grand. But it is restorable to with minimal refinishing. How many different tuners have been on there over the years? But ya gotta luv that ger-roovy logo.

How many different tuners have been on there over the years? But ya gotta luv that ger-roovy logo. This thing looks T-R-A-S-H-E-D, like the body has been split into two, and the neck is so 'checked' I can only surmise that the neck/headstock has been broken-off in the past. Some people are just flat-out dillusional.
BTMN Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Wow. I have the one before it. Sir Whackhead. Held by Bats in my sig. below. Cool.
cynic Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 If it weren't for the blem, the price looks about right

Guest gearwhore Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 i just emailed him to see if we can get to real world price...giving plenty of room for a proper rebuild.
mc2 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I've always wondered how gluing all the pieces back together effects the overall resonance of a guitar? Not necessarily this one...but even more shattered one, like a Hemdrix or Townshend smashed axe. And, if you had to reglue a neck shattered in several places, might you end up with dead spots on the fingerboard? But Hamer should have used some of these extreme repairs of classic Hamer Guitars as an ad campaign. Photos of the players and the before and after shots with some text about how the axe got destroyed but they just HAD to have it back....with the headline of "...Because It's A Hamer." That would have ads every player would read and relate to.
bubs_42 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 i just emailed him to see if we can get to real world price...giving plenty of room for a proper rebuild.Well since it was one of Martin's Guitars it was the in this state when he sold it, that would be the worst thing you could do to it.

cynic Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I just add price is firm and no offers and no low ball...cuts the BS rate down by 90%..does increase the hate mail though i just emailed him to see if we can get to real world price...giving plenty of room for a proper rebuild. Doesn't that make your email BS?

Steve Haynie Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 "The Ultimate" beater. If that guitar plays halfway decent with no dead spots it is on my want/unobtainable list.

svl Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Didn't say it was worth $7k to anybody but the seller. But the idea here is that if you restored it, it would likely be worth even less to a collector.Repairing Jimi's fired up Strat from Monterey? Not worth what the char-broiled original condition is.Look at that nice early Standard someone on here had restored and was trying to sell not long ago- I believe asking price was what they paid Hamer to do the restoration, but I don't believe it sold. And it was a beautiful guitar. Worth the price to the cat who restored it, but not so much to buyers here.
marcnorth Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I may be wrong but I thought the reworked standard did sell.

Well since it was one of Martin's Guitars it was the in this state when he sold it, that would be the worst thing you could do to it.#0077 was not one of Martin BARRE'S guitars.#0002 was, but that was the only Standard he owned (according to the man himself when I met with him in 2000 or so). As I recall, #0077 was originally a stateside-owned guitar until at least 2000 or so.

So here I am a buyer with the ability to swim in this pool...but I dont see the value in 0077..not any where near what its at.and the martin that owns 0002 and 0077 NOW is not martin barre
matchful Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Looks like it was destroyed by the God of Thunder!!!!

I was only commenting on the possible historical value, which apparently doesn't exist. As to the refin'ed Standard, I would snag that over 77 in a heartbeat, though again not at it's asking price.
